Beatles Collectors Have A New Holy Grail

  • Did you catch this recent story? An ultra rare copy of the iconic LP "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (Capitol SMAS 2653, 1967) has just sold at auction for $32,500. This super-rare custom-made cover variation features 40 Capitol Records executives' faces pasted into the famous collage (rather than the original collage of celebrities). Only about 40-50 copies were ever produced, one for each executive pictured. They were given to the execs as corporate gifts at a Capitol Records company party in 1967. The custom cover slick was pasted over standard copies of the late 1967 second US stereo pressing. A few copies were sold privately in the past, but this is the first to be sold at public auction. Keep your eyes peeled for more, the high selling price is bound to shake a few more copies out of hiding!
