I live up a dark holler in a small town known for silicosis and snake handling churches. Frequenting the thrift stores for vinyl is a long drive over the mountains. Occasionally that trip is worth the gas and the danger.
West Virginia was no hot bed of garage rock in the 60's, gospel, country and bluegrass are the main things I finger through. A few weeks back I thumbed my way through a small pile of 45's to find 8 copies of "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White" / "All I Really Want To Do" by Stix N' Stones on Impex out of Philadelphia, PA. My hands sweated, my heart rate raced. What is this doing here!!! I got all 8 copies at 25 cents each. Uncomped mostly unknown. Locked in hogwash's hillbilly haven
The band do respectfully good versions of the Standells and Dylan songs, the strangest drumming though either ruins or makes these covers genius, he kind of plays the drums backwards or upside down or maybe they just had no idea how to drum properly?
