Baring my soul to make a confession...
I'm turning into one of THOSE people.
You know, the kind that think that the music of their particular...era, moment in time, generation, whatever-the-hell has a monopoly on how music should sound.
I started to realize this when I saw "Colour Me Obsessed" a movie about The Replacements. While an interesting oral history of a band that I absolutely adore, it led me to this shitty observation about myself...That I like what I like and that I'm convinced it's superior. Doesn't matter what it is -- the music of the American underground pre-grunge, approximately 1983 to 1991 is the best. Period. Nothing else compares.
And then there was this immediate horrible realization -- I'm turning into one of THOSE people. The reason classic rock radio exists. It's like a neverending nostalgia trip. SO LAME!!!
So, in order to stay current, and relevant, and with my finger plugged into the electric digital waves of everything that's happening now, I gotta get off my ass and become more invested in the now, and that means, search out what I like because I like it.
Just gotta dig a little deeper, that's all.
