Hi,
I'm the guitar player in Pussy & The Learjets, a garage punk band based in Bangkok, Thailand, that will soon release its debut vinyl single on Metal Postcard Records. The band formed late last year and has played just two raucous shows so far. So you're in it from the start.
This blog will attempt to document the band's birth, journey, and hopefully epic and bloody demise. Step right up, and let me introduce you to...
Pussy & The Learjets – One of Asia’s most promising daughters conjoined at the throat with the low-down runaway sons of Old Europe – produce Grade A sonic napalm for eternally disaffected, secret romantics, jaded bohemians, danger-loving cuties and elegant oblivion seekers.
Born and raised, blinded, killed and resurrected in 2010, Southeast Asia’s only rock and roll band is on a mission to invent the sounds of the 21st century’s urban landscape – syphoning off the distorted echoes that crash across Bangkok’s glowing concrete canyons and pot-holed six lane highways cluttered with tattooed slum kids on motorbikes, riding lightning-fast past noodle stalls, their girls on the back, a few chords ahead of the cruel uniforms chasing them beneath wind-blown, leering billboards squatted by fading models selling yesterday’s manufactured plastic dreams.
In late 2010, the Learjets traveled back in time to steal the musical tools of America’s 1960s noise pioneers. Upon their successful return from this secretive and brutal rendition of punk rock life energy, pried from the American past and smuggled to the far eastern present, the mysterious, dark – eyed, demure and godly Pussy emerged like a devilish genie in the heart of the city – with a voice born from a tropical nightmare crashed in heavy monsoon rains beneath tattered awnings and retrofitted neon-strip realities – to join the rocknroll mercenaries on their assignment to destroy the world’s strato-fortresses of homogeneous vibrations and redundant musical consumer slavery.
