Fort Worth Teen Scene Pt. 2
Mal Thursday is joined by filmmaker Melissa Kirkendall, whose documentary about Fort Worth garage bands of the 1960s, Teen a-Go-Go, is having its Austin premiere on Monday April 11th at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz, in a screening co-sponsored by End of An Ear Records, Room Service Vintage Furniture, and Mal Thursday's Texas Tyme Machine floating concert series, and featuring live music by The Ugly Beats.
Tickets to the screening are available HERE.
In her guest DJ segment, Melissa shines the spotlight on some of the leading lights of Fort Worth's fertile '60s teenbeat scene. In addition to a mother lode of vintage garage records, Mal also spins more recent recordings from The Hickoids, Shapes Have Fangs, and Amplified Heat.
Fort Worth Teen Scene Vols. 1-3 is available on LP and CD at nortonrecords.com.
Presented in Living Monophonic Sound.
