I haven't been here for a while and it's about time that I added some more music. The music is French because I discovered more and more gems in the language of Moliere. I had a crash course in French recently. It bugged me that I liked songs but didn't have a clue what they were about. After the course some songs (the easy ones) I can understand and sing along. "Camera" from the
Plasticines for example. I had the chance to sing it out loud at a concert in Lille the nearest big French city to the Netherlands. A crude registration of the concert can be seen
here. I was there with the family because my daughter of 10 years old also likes the Plasticines. Not sure whether she likes it because Daddy likes it or because she hears it very often around the house and in the car. The venue was the Aeronef and it was rather weird. Compared to the joints that I been to in the Netherlands and the UK it was clean, friendly and nobody bugged or bothered you. I was concerned if it was a good idea to bring along a 10 year old to the concert but there were no troubles. In Holland she would be denied permission to enter a club because alcohol is served in clubs and theaters. No such patronizing stuff in France, just a very relaxed atmosphere and well worth the two and a half hours drive.
The other ones are
"Les Terribles" they are not doing their name justice because the music is anything but terrible. They'll be playing live on April the 20th in Utrecht and I'm planning to look them up. I found them on
Youtube while they were playing a song from the sixties by
"Pussycat". I thought it was a band named like that but it's just a girl singer named Evelyn Courtois. The song is about all the inconveniences of modern life and an adaption of the Small Face's "Sha la la la la lee". I fell in love with her the moment I saw here play backing her song after being introduced by none other than Mr. Tom Jones. and was wondering whether artists like her did gigs in those days. These are the moments that I wish time travel was possible.
