Mollesters

  • The song "Plastic" has been added here a while ago. I'm guessing that it's complete unknown by the majority of the clientèle of this here virtual hangout. Allow me to enlighten you guys and gals. The song is from a band named the Mollesters. They were from my home town Den Haag. The single is from either 1977 or 1978. It was one of the first punk singles in Holland. The Mollesters had quite a few followers back then and inspired a rather great number of them to start their own bands. I also was inspired by them and in 1979 me and other followers/friends of them founded "The Gang". We did quite a few gigs here in Holland and were a minor success in the fringes of the underground Punk scene. We never made a record or something but we have recorded a few demo's. Back to the Mollesters. They're named after a Hells Angel who features in Hunter Thompson's "Hells Angels": Charger Charlie the Child Mollester. The single was cut on the Plurex label which was an indie label (of course). I have the distinct honor to call the lead guitar player Jean Pierre Jouvenaar my friend. (Far left on the record cover) We know each other since we were twelve or something. Being an early punk fan I found it highly exciting to be around a genuine Punk band. I was for some time even a roadie for them because I had a drivers license and was always sober. They started out as a regular Punk band and later evolved to all sorts of directions. The band as it first started died slowly in the last half of the eighties and subsequently the two guitar players participated in all kinds of projects. (The other guitar player is Koos van Oostrom). The excitement of the early days could never be reached again in my opinion. The magic between the members was gone due to things like family life, other interests and maybe lack of success? I still have the single Plastic and apparently it has become a collectors' item. Who would have thought? Here below the personal web pages of my friend Jean Pierre Jouvenaar. He's still around in the music scene as you can see and hear. In the last link are his most recent songs/projects. Which reminds me to give him a call to visit him one of these days........ http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=352737679 http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=72937471 http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=381299130
