For the longest time, I tried to figure out who was the American version of the Sex Pistols: Some say it was the dead boys,but to me, they were just neanderthals with really high libidos (nothing against em, Night of the living dead boys is a great piece of work) so I'd bestow this title onto either the Germs or the Dead Kennedys: both were loud, angry, sarcastic bands that played trashy clanging punk in order to spread a message. In the end though, the honor goes to the dead kennedys and on this recording, Biafra does indeed show his Johnny Lydon side. Although, I can also sort of sense in the live show that he never really liked the hardcore scene at all.
