Indie journey part 2

  • Mudhoney: Okay, so I would say Super Fuzz Big Muff is the best record for people who are ignorant of grunge; it sounds more sabbathy compared to Nirvana and much more trippy. As an aside, I'd say the best to way to introduce folks to this genre is to do the following: 1) play them a Black Sabbath album 2) Play em some Stooges, preferably the Fun House record cos it's got more slow songs 3) THEN, put on this record. In the case of Nirvana, do the following 1) play a bit of Black Flag's My War 2) again, use Black Sabbath 3)play Bleach and Nevermind..and In Utero But anyway, Mudhoney may be one of the heaviest bands I've heard.. You can find the album here: http://digitalmeltd0wn.blogspot.com/search?q=Mudhoney And Finally...... Beat Happening: Do you enjoy Weezer's power popish debut, but can't stand River Como's stupid smugness? Then enter Beat Happening. They broke up about 8 years ago, but still offered the same sort of ballads about love and awkwardness, yet in a quieter, humble tone. I myself just listened to this: http://luguriadiy.blogspot.com/2008/05/beat-happening-usa-1983-85.html today and though I only really liked Down at the sea, their style of light, teen pop is still sorta appealing.
