Don't miss! Debut from director Panos Cosmatos may remind you of a David Cronenberg student film if he collaborated with David Lynch and is far and away of the best surreal, mind bending piece since 'Eraserhead.' Barry, a psychiatrist of questionable motives (who resembles young David Cronenberg !?) treats a mute woman in a 2001: A Space Odyssey/THX1138-like institute in 1983. This heavy film starts out with a vague corporate promo piece and contains the most original acid trip ever on film worthy of a Saul Bass title sequence. Dialogue is minimal and the synth sounds are right of 'Videodrome.' With lots of (now) obsolete technology, very disturbing gore and a clip of Reagan on TV. Made in Canada for a paltry $1.1 million.
