I heard about a Detroit band called THE UP who a record store clerk in Kutztown, PA said were as good as the Stooges. I finally tracked down KILLER UP. Great sound, inept playing but with a slight bit of the savagery at bay. FRANCOIS HARDY was "The 'Yeah Yeah' Girl of Paris" who released albums of charming echoey folk in the 60's and haunted my dreams after seeing her scopitones after a late night of partying. Flash forward to the 90's and this older, but still relevant woman recorded a harder rocking album LE DANGER which I read about in the seminal volume UNKNOWN HEROES OF ROCK 'N ROLL. I snagged it from Amazon and it's great like a 90's Iggy Pop album like AMERICAN CEASAR in mood. Right now I'm listening to ATILLA which was an early embarrassment (though it shouldn't be) duo half of which was Billy Joel (!?) described as keyboard heavy metal, it's great if you're a fan of TRANSYLVANIA 500. Hey, for me it beats the hell out of PIANO MAN and should be the album he's most proud of.
Okay, freaks, I'll come back at you when I have more time.
