As weird as you'd expect--cartoons from the guy who brought us The Beast, Immoral Tales, and Dr. Jeckyll and Miss Osbourne. Some of you out there might be old enough to remember the International Animation Festival with Jean Marsh on PBS. This stuff might have showed up on there in the '70's. The first one, "Le Concert de M et Mme. Kabal" is like a Monty Python cartoon as drawn by Edward Gorey. A big-titted woman tries to play the piano, lot of weird stuff happens, and a little round guy ends up cut to pieces.
The second one, "Le Petit Poucet" looks like an 1800's woodcut with characters running around yelling at one another Punch and Judy-ish--THEN it switches into live action shots of pasta cooking. Dadaist? I dunno. My French isn't good enough.
Finally, "The Renaissance" is an eye-popping photographic reverse entropy piece starting with a bunred out wrecked room that transforms itself into a beautiful still life by the magic of reverse photography.
Almost reminds me of some of the early films of David Lynch.
