In 1993 I started my recordlabel(s).
The first release was the Fruitcake 7” on Pit’sbull Records,shortly followed by the first Demolition Derby release,the Mummies/ Supercharger 7”.
More labels and lots more releases followed but only Demolition Derby Records lasted.
The final release on Demolition Derby was the Gorgons lp in 2010 (my 94th release 1993-2010,somehow I had hoped to get to 100,but it wasn’t to be).
Right from the start I began to trade and sell records at shows,via mailorder and online.
In September 1998 I opened the Demolition Derby Recordstore in Mechelen.
September 2013 will see the 15th birthday of the Demolition Derby Recordstore and at the same time the end.
The webstore will continue and as always has all the stuff listed that is also available in the store .
It will still be possible to come by to pick up records instead of having them sent by post,but only by appointment,.
August 4th will be the last time the store is open on the first Saturday of the month.
But 20 years of Demolition Derby calls for some kind of celebration. Each month there will be a giveaway of some of the backcatalog.
February 2013 starts off with the Grey Spikes,each order of € 20 will get a free Grey Spikes 7”,each order of € 50 a free Grey Spikes lp,each order of € 100 will get both
Moreover the first customer who orders € 500 will get both of the above plus a free Mummies/Supercharger live at the Pit’s 7”.
Expect more freebies to be announced in the following 6 months.
I want to thank those customers who supported me through all those years by coming to the store,ordering online or buying at shows where I had a stall.
Only 7 remaining chances not to come to the Demolition Derby Recordstore, starting Saturday Feb 2nd when the store will be open 1-5 PM. Actions speak louder than words.
