I've been busy and totally forgot to re-post this entry here from my mog page www.mog.com/iren
also my Oct Music Writing Project this year is 31 posts about the Nordic Hi Energy Rock and Roll scene, and you can find links to those posts on my Mog page as well...
It’s that time of the month again, the start of a new one. For me the start of a new month is a time for me to look back at my monthly play list that I generate of the tunes that have caught my ear over the last 4 odd weeks or so… you can find links to my old monthly playlist from the widget on my Mog page….
Sept 2007 has been a very strange month, and this time around only 2… that is right only 2 songs made it onto my play list… Part of the reason was that I was away from my computer for nearly 11 days while in Sweden (the details of at least the Rocknrollboaten you can find here
Anyway, the 2 tunes for this month were:
Poison Love by Blood on the Saddle
I have written about these guys enough for people to know that I dig them… this past month I just happened to run across a blog with MP3 ’s from the vinyl of their Poison Love LP… which I didn’t have on for my iPod, and to I did what anyone would do…downloaded them… this is the point where I say that if the music was legally available in a digital format I would buy it… but it’s not, and the LPs are out of print… on to the track it’s self.. it’s an uptempo Country and Western in the vein of X… and the band was from LA go figure… anyway it’s the vocals of Annette Zilinskas that really make the song….
Cool Sound Outta Hell by The Forbidden Dimension
Another band that I won’t shut up about… their new album is out sometime this month, and I am chompin’ at the bit to get my copy… not only cause I love their music, their cover art and just about everything about the band, but also cause it’s going to be my first purchase of an LP that comes with a free download of the album…. The tune is just what you expect from the FD….. only there is what sounds like a sitar breakdown in the middle of the metalic garage roar of this tune… I know that I will be mogging about this record in the coming weeks, so I will just say this is a killer tune, that is perfect for this time of year, and if you are looking for that record for your Halloween festivities check out this track…
Honorable mentions for this past month go to 3 tracks that I heard a couple of times while in Sweden but have as of yet not found copies of:
Born to Cry by Dion
Nothing I Can Do by Wylde Mammoths
Bla Bla Bla ? by Britt Bergstrom
