Rancho Relaxo / Sat Sept 10th / $7 / Expand for full info
A show that is guaranteed to blow the roof off the Rancho Relaxo! Various varieties of punk(ish) garage bands take to the Rancho stage. Some for the first time in quite a while.
So, kicking off this night is the Ultimatemost High, a local Toronto act. Like all the acts on this bill, the Ultimatemost High are a garage/punk act. And this band does that very very well. No frills, no bullslhit, just straight up rock n roll. We wouldn't want it any other way.
Then we have the Weirdies! Man it has been ages since the Weirdies have played at the Ranch! But on this night, we welcome back the Weirdies and long time friend of the Ranch, Stacey Case! The Weirdies are one of Toronto's most original garage rock outfits. Here is a snippet from a recent stellar review from NOW for their sophomore album:
"The Weirdies’ second album, Volatile, gets a NNNN review from NOW! “Like the best garage rock bands, the Weirdies keep it loud, fast and snotty on their second album. Songs depict a world where smart, sassy, independent women would rather have a one-night stand than put a ring on it and where tough guys are just looking for someone to love."
Then, the Polymorphines make their much anticipated return to the Rancho in support of their new EP, The Slip, which has been charting alll over the place so far. The Polymorphines are one of my favourite live bands going. So dirty, so jangly, and so good. Not to mention some of the most insane tambourine playing you will ever encounter in your life. Do not miss this set!
And then, a band who's vinyl I have been spinning the crap out of closes out the night, Chang-A-Lang! Chang-A-Lang has been one of the best bands going in Toronto for a while now, but it seems finally people are starting to figure that out. They play garage/punk with pop sensibilities and some great songwriting. A bill this stacked doesn't come through the Ranch all the time, so don't be missing it!
