Battle Of The 2 Piece Bands Part 5, the fifth in this seemingly never ending series. In the past, we've had such bands as; The Pack AD (Vancouver), Will Crum (LA), Shanker and Romps (Ottawa), The Famines (Edmonton), catl (Toronto), Skirt Chasers (Toronto) and local duos The Can Toos, Cordcalling and Standstills play at these events. This time out, we've got The Speaking Tongues (Toronto and their 2nd time at one of our Battles), Bucketseat (Nanaimo BC) and London's own Lonesome Ghost are making a second appearance.
The show is taking place Saturday Mar 12th at The Black Shire Pub, the same place that we've had 3 of the previous Battles. Starting at approx 10PM with a low cover of $5, which all goes to the bands.
The Speaking Tongues....killer duo from Toronto who have released 1 CD and a split 7" with Detroit's Rue Moor Counts. They've played London many times and are the only band that i've danced so hard to, that i've actually blown a shoe!! Bucketseat....Nanaimo BC, both have beards, but don't hold that against them. These guys get into the lofi boogie blues beat that'll get your hips swaying and your feet amoving. You can also catch these guys at Norma Jeans on Thursday Mar 10th or on Radio What Wave sometime between 7 and 8:30PM playing live over the airwaves. You've been warned! There will also be a quick set at Grooves Records sometime around 3PM also on Thursday Mar 10th. These London shows will be the start of Bucketseat's cross Canada tour.
Lonesome Ghost...we'll call these guys our hometown heroes, even though they hail from Aylmer, Ontario as they regularly play the London clubs...at least the better clubs! Brandon and Joe will fuck up the blues so hard, you'll think they've created a new subgenre of punk rock!
