It's Mal Thursday's '68 Comeback Special, with garage rock accompaniment from the Cheetahs, with extra special guests Evil Bill, and direct from Boston, the Egos. The evening's master of ceremonies will be Connolly Ryan, another link to the Sierra's past life as the Bay State Hotel.
The Cheetahs this time around are Frank Padellaro, Bob Medley, Dave Trenholm, and Paul Pelis -- the band depicted in the cartoon is a hybrid of a couple of different '90s line-ups, including Amy Sullivan and the late, great Ray Neades. Other former Cheetahs include Jeff Conolly (Lyres, DMZ), Nelson Bragg (Brian Wilson Orchestra, The Wondermints), Mick Crowley and Ken Chiodini (The Hate Bombs).
The following Thursday, Mal brings his '80s garage band the Malarians back from the crypt for two sets at the Sierra.
The working title for the documentary is "Mal's Folly."
