The first (of two) launch shows for The Millipedes debut LP 'Shake Your Bones' released on Odd Box Records on 7th November.
In foolhardy defiance of the increasing non-physical nature of musical product The Millipedes debut album Shake Your Bones is being released by Odd Box Records as a series of 3 7” EPs that when collected form a box set with amazing original artwork by Sheffield comic artist Oliver Allchin. The tracks that make up Shake Your Bones were partially produced by legendary Sheffield producer Alan Smyth (Pulp, The Arctic Monkeys, Reverend and the Makers) at his 2Fly studios in Sheffield.
Playing the night are Lot Lizards, The Millipdes and The Nuns
Lot Lizards (London) - http://www.myspace.com/78678593
Lot Lizards are a furious lo-fi fuzz'n'roll band that have been compared to the Gories, Black Time and John Spencer to name just three.
"Rife with dark guitar growl. The most impressive work I've heard from GG and Meg yet. And I say they sound like Black Time in a good way, really" - Terminal Boredom (Jul 2009)
"Playing utterly blown-out, simple garage (think NECESSARY EVILS or maybe BANTAM ROOSTER) that's heavy on distorted guitar and vocals, backed by the simplest drum beats. The crush of noise on "Cynical Damage," the first song on side-B (yes, with organ) leaves me wanting more of that kind of punishment" - Maximum R’n’R Issue 313
"Uber lo-fi from Britatin that’s more stripped down than the Gories and noisier. No bass, just hollerin’ and beatin’." Razorcake (Jan 2009)
The Millipedes (Sheffield) - http://www.myspace.com/themillipedes
Playing music that sounds like the raw punk of The Sonics mixed with the sleazy rhythm & blues of Andre Williams, The Millipedes can do super-stupid horror themed punk trash and seedily beautiful blues, sometimes at the same time.
The Nuns (London) - http://www.myspace.co/itsnuntime
It's Nuns time! An all lady six piece band that just loves The Monks. They play their songs. An idea so simple in it's genius. It's Nuns Time! Be sure to get in early to catch this amazing band rip up a riot of 60s beats and riffs.
