A nice night of garage with our own herr Zimmerbach spinning some records before Made for Chickens by Robots hits the stage to make us wonder where it went wrong...
Made For Chickens By Robots is one of the most brilliant and bizarre one-man-bands you will ever witness... with his lo-fi high speed kids guitar, his feets kicking a suitcase and a miniature snare drum, rambling through an old megaphone and setting off samples of farmyard animals, outer space creatures and sonic eruptions. He wears a chicken mask made from his grandmother’s bathrobe and hides behind a pair of unfashionable shades. All at the same time.
It’s some kind of blues music, some kind of deranged old early blues and the ragtime tradition then screwed up by technology and crippled tonality, earache noise and abusive slapstick effects. Fast finge-rpicking weird guitar interrupted by drunken tempo changes and warped backwards sounds. It’s cartoon blues music and just when you think you can dance he’ll hit something and make it all wrong again.
“The music of Made for Chickens by Robots, simply stated, is more mad scientist meets dirt farming redneck than anything else. Or rather, it could also be intently tinkering prodigy meets tobacco-chewin', overalls-wearing hillbilly. Made for Chickens by Robots is where the urban and the rural converge, where the organic and the mechanical become one, where the real world and the cartoon world intersect, where the animal and the human merge, and where the sound and the fury overlap.” – The Philadelphia Examiner
