It's called Therapy. It's on Pike & Broadway. It's pretty cozy which is rad cause it makes the shows feel like house party shows. And house party shows have always been my favorite.
I'm no longer in a band (haven't been for years) but am curious which bar you run.
I run a bar on capitol hill and we're currently booking bands. I figured, where better to find bands than among my fellow garagepunkers. If you're interested send me a link to some tunes or a video of a show or whatever and we'll set it up.
Cheers
Glad to hear you are playing on the show!!!
We're looking forward in playing with you guys tomorrow night!!! WOOOOOOO!!!

Take Metro! Black Cat is located just three blocks from the U Street/Cardozo Metro Station.
I tried getting the people who did (do?) Studio 66 at the Lo-fi interested in a major Garage Rock fest but they kind of hesitated.
It's been more than a decade since the last Garage Stomp rocked the Northwest. I think that we need a new Garage/Wild Rock 'n' Roll festival in Washington. New Orleans has the Ponderosa Stomp, Memphis has Gonerfest, even Oakland has Budget Rock. The Seattle/Tacoma area should have its own. We've got great bars, beautiful parks, awesome weather in the late Summer, heck, we even have legal weed, not to mention a garage rock history that matches up with any other part of the country. This town needs to get shaken out of it's indie-folk coma and I think a weekend of some good, loud, real rock 'n' roll would do the trick.

ACID BABY JESUS
http://slovenly.bandcamp.com/album/acid-baby-jesus-self-titled-lp
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Acid-Baby-Jesus/146447782059432
The debut full length tidal wave from Greece's ABJ. A Mediterranean concoction of two of our favorite "Black" bands (Sabbath/ Lips), ABJ represents the future of heavy psych'n'roll from an isolated, ancient civilization. Combining the ruthless elements of American outlaw roots music and celestial glam rock, like fellow deconstructionists Demon's Claws, "LP" suggests the Rolling Stones at their wearied best, with the electrifying hi-jinks of Brian Eno bulldozing the swagger into the darkest corners of the cosmos.
HELLSHOVEL
http://www.facebook.com/HellShovel
http://hellshovel1.bandcamp.com/
In the midst of a relentless USA / European touring schedule (including copious performances with contemporaries / new label mates Acid baby Jesus) and the release of a small handful of 7” singles, the Slovenly posse is trying to wrap our brains around this warped debut LP / CD called “Hated By The Sun” by Canadian bumpkin punks HELLSHOVEL (aka Hell Shovel). Led by Demon’s Claws frontman Jeff Clarke, and featuring Dox Grillo sharing the strings / vox duties, with Bloodshot Bill (TANDOORI NIGHTS / DING DONGS / swarthy one man band LEGEND who makes an effortless transition on the drums from his [un]usual wild man rockabilly fare), “Hated By The Sun” is the sound of Johnny Cash drowning in a pool of cough syrup - a gooey reminder of the most irradiated moments of Demon’s Claws poisonous choo-choo train shamble. A swank, full color gatefold jacket houses the wax.
THE RECORDETTES

"Spurting out simple, to-the-point lyrics that harken back to say, well… If The Archie’s had gone punk and were fueled by a pounding Ronette’s “Be My Baby” musical vibe, you would have a good idea of the band’s sound." -Phil Rainone, Jersey Beat
THE PSYCHED
http://www.facebook.com/WeAreThePsyched
http://slovenly.bandcamp.com/album/the-psyched-self-titled-lp
"THE PSYCHED! Anthony Macbain (also of Tunnel of Love), Paul Weil (ex- founding member of The Apes) and bassist/synth demon, Jess Ludwicki, and have released a screamer of a full-length this year on Slovenly imprint Black Gladiator." —Slovenly Records
TWIN GUNS
twinguns.bandcamp.com
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Twin-Guns/113180712047172
New York’s TWIN GUNS features Andrea Sicco on guitar and vocals, and “Jungle” Jim Chandler (The Cramps, The Makers) on drums. Despite being just a duo, Twin Guns has the power and chops to really bring it. Drenched in reverb, fuzz and an overdose of atmosphere, Twin Guns combine parts Jesus & Mary Chain, the Count Five/Seeds vibe, and the New York “No Wave” scene into its own dark stew.
THE MESS AROUND
http://www.facebook.com/TheMessAround
Having been compared to Radio Birdman, The Lazy Cowgirls and The Angry Samoans playing Little Richard tunes way too fast, The Mess Around are built on the firm understanding that the best rock ‘n roll is inspired by sexual frustration, confusion, and a hearty dose of alcohol. Hailing from all three out of the five boroughs of NYC, their new album, "Boner Time!" was released in the summer of 2012. They don't need your love, just a few free drinks and someone to carry their shit.
DAVE THE SPAZZ flips the rock 'n' roll records every Thursday night on WFMU

Thanks Alex, I will have a look what's on once we are in town. I have been at Dante's many years ago, but had forgotten the name of the club until now that I read it. Do you happen to know about any 'affordable' hotels in the cool parts of town(and which are those?). We prob want to stay more than a night in Portland so it'd be nice to have the hotel close to the action.

For Portland: Check out-
Club 21, Slabtown, Tonic Lounge, Dante's, Kenton, Omalley's etc for shows
Green Noise, JAckpot, Everyday Music and Crossroads for vinyl.
Thanks Shaun, if we spend the night in Vegas I will try to get a hotel close to those bars. Are there in the same area, more or less? The Double Down sounds familar, I might drank there once when on the road with a band, but as a local chick drove us there I got no idea where it was. And it might as well could have been a totally different place, it was a looong night ;-)
You got a link for your band where I can check for gigs?
Shaun Coleman said:
check out thee swank bastards, when you are in vegas. yes it is my band but I hear that we are good live.
Only two bars I go to are Frankie's Tiki Room and The Double Down Saloon.
Thanks Stanton, yes we will be driving through Utah and if there's time I will check some of those stores. Anything you would consider a must see or do in Utah for a tourist? I checked and there seem to be some interesting state parks along our way.

Only one good previously loved vinyl store in town but the prices are out of control. One decent used gear store in town goes by the name of Cowtown Guitars. Only two bars I go to are Frankie's Tiki Room and The Double Down Saloon.

PRESS RELEASE
POWER POP-A-LICIOUS 2 MUSIC FEST MOVES TO
THE CAKE SHOP, NYC FEBRUARY 1 & 2 2013!
After being postponed due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the Power Pop-A-Licious 2 music festival will now take place on Friday, February 1 & Saturday, February 2nd at Cake Shop in New York City. *
Conceived and curated by power pop legend Paul Collins (co-founder of THE NERVES, THE BREAKAWAYS and THE BEAT), the fest will bring together some of the finest young guitar-driven power pop, garage rock and punk-pop bands from the eastern seaboard and Canada. Of the lineup, Collins says, “Power Pop-A-Licious 2 is a unifying rally cry for the thriving rock-n-roll subculture, and is a means for power pop fans of all ages to discover a wealth of talented new acts in one power-packed weekend.”
Collins explains the concept behind this year’s festival: “I wanted to keep the spirit of last year’s fest going. It was going to be a challenge to come up with a whole new bunch of bands that I personally believed in and that I thought meant something… In the end we were able to do that. All these bands are serious about what they are doing; they are all out there trying to make something happen, I am proud to be able to help them achieve that goal.”
Power-pop-A-Licious 2 is ground zero for a burgeoning DIY power pop scene fueled by the devotion of its fans, the immediacy of the internet and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Each day will feature bands from the East Coast that are left right and center of the new generation of the guitar driven melodic rock scene.
Collins adds: “Today’s power pop bands blend punk, garage, retro-power pop, and psychedelic into one swirling sound. Personally I am not a purest about power pop, I am more interested in promoting bands that have cool songs and use electric guitars to get their point across.”
Tickets for the fest are $10 and will be available in advance from Brown Paper Tickets.
*Originally planned to take place at the fabulous Asbury Lanes but moved to NYC as a result of Hurricane Sandy…our deepest thanks to both Asbury Lanes and Cake Shop for their support.

PAUL COLLINS is Power Pop's greatest champion and spokesperson. Through extensive worldwide touring, and connecting to like-minded bands, artists and fans through social networking sites, Paul has created THE BEAT ARMY, a DIY network of people connected by their love of power pop, punk, new wave and rock-n-roll to help ensure its success at the club level - where rock-n-roll lives and breathes. While THE BEAT ARMY only began in March 2010, Collins has already amassed over 3,000 members. In addition, he's been touring heavily in support of both THE BEAT ARMY and his new album KING OF POWER POP! (Alive Records). Good lord that is an ugly link. But I guess if it gets the job done, it doesn't matter. Hi, I'm Drew. That's my new band, The Silent Order. We're a little more grunge than garage punk(I think so, anyway) but we like to keep it raw and I hope you guys like the music anyway.
