The Dials - Maybe they've already played one of your shows. Femme - fronted Rockabilly / Gargae oriented stew.    MOST BANDS WHO'VE CLAIMED TO BE INSPIRED BY THE CRAMPS HAVE A HELLUVA TIME MAKING IT KNOWN , BUT , THEY'RE SINCERE....

Hotrod Hucksters - All male Rockabilly sausage party. Not wimpy , like most of 'em . PRETTY MUCH TO THE POINT.

Al Simon/Devil Dogs - Old school Neo - Rockabilly (I know that does'nt make sense.) . Al was the singer for The Rebel Rousers , one of Chicago's first 80'S Rockabilly bands , and , later , a stint with The Greaseballs , fucking legends.   Mainly does covers , but , has good taste , and puts on a good show.

The Amazing Heebie Jeebies - Revolving door cast , including ex - Riptones , Greaseballs , Spies Who Surf , etc.  Country , Rockabilly , Garage , other stuff. Covers and originals.

i CAN'T THINK OF ANY NEW GARAGE bands to recommend , but , if I do , I'll get back with you. I've been here since 1987, and I can count all the Garage bands , locally , that I've seen , on both hands , and that would be very generous on my part.

Best of luck with the venue though.

    • Details.

The name of the place is called Pick-ups located at 21000 Torrence Ave. Ford heights IL. It's on the border of Lynwood and Ford Heights. 30 min south of Chicago. Tons of parking with NO METERS.

It's mainly a Rock-a-billy theme, but we do throw in some Punk Rock, Surf, Outlaw Country, Horror Rock & Psychobilly. I would like to get some Garage Bands in there.

      Here is the site  http://www.pickupsbar.net/

      Here's the Facebook page

Like I said before, I can't guarantee a fortune, but I can guarantee you will walk away with some dough in your pocket and some free drinks. Also, I make no money at this. Actually it's me and 3 other people who run the Rockabilly Fridays.

Also, you never even mention in your post what venue it is you're talking about. Don't ya think you should include the name and maybe the address & a link to their website? ;)

    • I'm sure there are, but they probably just don't check this group that often (if ever). That's always been one of the really difficult things about running this site... getting people to actually USE it. What're ya gonna do?

    • Hello,

Looking to see if any Garage bands still exist in the Chicago area. Wanna get some from the area or even some from out of town for the venue I've been helping to book shows at. Pretty cool joint 30 min south of Chicago. We do a Rock-a-billy night, but mix it up with some psychobilly, Surf, Punk, etc. There is a pretty good mixed crowd of regulars. Can't promise a bunch of dough, but I can get you some beers, a few bucks & a good time.

If Trolley (Power Pop) is still around , you might look them up . I think Paul Wall from Trolley has a new band..... I don't know who or what's happening in Wisconsin , these days. Sorry.

Great ad from Antone's , tho'. Saw Doug Sahm for the first time at Antone's.

    • The Return of Son of Psycho á Go-Go is getting together a rag tag cadre of professional garage maniacs. We need: drummer, bass player, guitarist. Get back to zacharythax. We have the name. We have the audience. All we need is the band.
