I have these mono mixes of the first two Seeds albums and they sound great:
Jymn , OK , knowing who he is , now , I see where he falls into the "Controversy" of Alec Palao making The Seeds' back catalogue not sound like shit , or merely acceptible , when it could be great , as it is , now. Especially the mono mixes , but the stereo mixes sound fine as wine , too. I'm sure it's difficult to get such warmth onto a CD - only release , but , he did it.
If he contested Hoffman , then , he knows what the Hell he's saying , as he's already been involved with some great CD reissues . Technical know - how is a good thing and all that , but , you , me , Glenn , anyone else who responds , we want better , and Alec rose to the call.
Don't know why I'm banned. The whole thread, well established, is also gone. Steve Hoffman is a mastering engineering, who was a pioneer for presenting warm, analog versions of classic albums on CD and SACD. Like you both, I want answers not blacklisting. Owner of both vinyl and CD's of the debut, I can tell you they both sound 'analog.' Not only that but with the room-filling reverb, who needs stereo?
I HAVE A TIN EAR , AND MY ENTIRE STEREO SETUP COST ABOUT $70 , NOT COUNTING A CD PLAYER THAT'S ABOUT 20 YEARS OLD , IT'S TRUE , BUT ALEC PALAO DID A GREAT JOB UNEARTHING AND REMASTERING THE MONO SEEDS MIXES. "A WEB OF SOUND" SOUNDS PARTICULARLY GOOD.
BUT , "THE SEEDS" IS A DRASTIC IMPROVEMENT ON PAST REISSUES. That's saying nothing about all the rarities in both packages.
I DON'T GET WHY YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN BLACKLISTED. I ALSO DON'T KNOW WHO STEVE HOFFMAN IS . Did he do the original denim delinquent magazine? Educate me , man,you know we went to different schools together.
I see a scan of the mono master. Where did it come from. Is that proof it wasn't lost? Also, Is the unedited version of Pushin' Too Hard a longer take on the lp (been a long time since I played the whole thing) or would it be the earlier single release that is an alternate mix (if not version) with earlier catalog#? And being banned for any such post sounds quite ridiculous and absurd. Sounds like a cover-up!

Jarmusch? Really?! I heard about the show , but , not the DVD. yEAH, DAN IS A FRIEND OF MINE FROM WAY BACK...I DID'NT WANT TO SOUND LIKE I WAS BRAGGING , HA HA. ONLY ONE OF US HAS A RIGHT TO BRAG , AND IF YOU'VE SEEN "PLASTERCASTER " ,YOU KNOW WHICH ONE THAT IS ! I'm in it, too, briefly , talking to Dan , before Cynthia "Pops the question.". The Dan and The Darleans 45 is good , minimal BFTG type Garage. Yeah , Dan came up here and played a Country Blues set with a friend. No promotion , no mikes or amps.
KK Dirty Money & Las Drogas said:
Very cool! I lived in the Ann Arbor area at the time of the blackout, so I was driving to the venue when I heard about the cancellation of the show on the radio. I just wound up continuing to drive further up into Northern Michigan where there was power and hanging out up there, doing some boating and such with family, for a few days until the power came back.
All the local rockers, both "big" and "small", were present at the Stooges reunion. It was a great place to be ("scene, see, and be seen" if you know what I mean...)
A couple years back, the Iggy and the Stooges played a special Ron Asheton tribute show at the Michigan Theater in downtown Ann Arbor (later made into a DVD documentary), filmed by Jim Jarmusch and featuring guests such as Henry Rollins and Deniz Tek on guitar. It was an Ann Arbor musical homecoming of sorts. Thankfully, Deniz Tek appears to be in good health and is still rockin' strong.
Rasmussen as well as Dan Kroha can be seen "around town" quite frequently, performing or hanging out at shows. Dan plays out regularly. His newest band, called Dan and the Darleans is actually really cool and it is pretty easy to catch them playing pretty much anywhere around town from very small free shows in the lobby of the Majestic Theater to bigger stages opening for national acts.
Are Boy Bands called "Lad Bands" in England?
No , John ,they're called shite.
Andy Climax said:
In Britain just now,. This shit is masquerading as 'music'. Wot a load of fuckin shite! It'll never catch on. Not like the popular 'Beat' combo's we're used to. Just a passing fad hopefully! haha
ME , TOO! JOHN. (YOU NAME HERE) ME , THREE!!!! THE CIRCLE WON'T BE BROKEN.
.....It's not bad, Would'nt call it weird . The puppets and stuff , yeah , but, I like puppets.
It sounds , mainly, like 70's Rock Riffage (Deep Purple , Thin Lizzy , eg.) , but , less heavy. The singer sounds a little too much like Siouxsie for my taste , but she has a GOOD voice. The hookah lounge....even jocks go to the hookah lounge in the states. And the lion with the pipe....Oh , well. It is funny.
just heard this slab of weirdness about 2 minutes ago. Debut album just out. Apart fae that, I know nothing about them. This is just lovely tho.
