    • Yep, I love goth too (Bauhaus live ´82? was simply fantastic!) but not only ... In general love most stuff from the 80s. It´s my time, my music and Kopper´s list could be my list too! In there i would add bands like Sonic Youth, Pere Ubu, Tuxedomoon, Pixies, the Sounds, Beasts of bourbon, Foetus, to mention very few more...

One band who devastated me (about ´81) was Circus Mort, just 4 songs but WOW!!!!!!!!!! (I was also really impressed by their drums). Unfortunately i´ve never seen Circus Mort live just few years later, Swans (was great too:)

    •  Just discovered your group/show. Listening to the archived show, the playlist from this week looks great too. Love the Cancon aspect. I'll be listening from now on, except Thursday is our band practice night - hope the archives continue to work.

    • Very Cool! Love this raw DIY stuff. I have an old suitcase drum and snare set up I actually record with once in a while, not nearly as creative or original as this though, but it thuds.

    • "PRESSING PLANT SURPRISE!   We thought this one was gone forever, it's been off the catalogue for about a year or so, and then discovered that our pressing plant had 300 copies pressed and packed long ago and far away and forgotten in a corner!   They have just been delivered to our warehouse in perfect conditon. Get em while they last."

    • Oh yea, also, to reply more specifically to the original post: It's not brand new, but the band, Cave, from Chicago are awesome. Their album NEVERENDLESS on Drag City is great, and they're super good live.

    • Hey, Fidlar are way cool, I'll be looking into them.

    • Lets see.... I went to the Redwood Bar near the end of summer and saw The Maxines (most recent is the the Drugstore 7")  and Magic Trash (The Way I'm Livin' 7" e.p.) It was a spectacular night with Wounded Lion headlining.

And then like I tell everybody that'll listen, the Hideout Comps have never let me down.

    • I gotta second fidlar. My first impression/pithy summation of them was that they are kinda like if the black lips were a socal skate/punk band.  They quickly became my favorite band in L.A. They've also blown up quite quickly so hopefully the backlash doesn't start too soon because they're a great band.

    • There's also "e.y.o.b." (Eat Yourself Out , Baby") by The Nip Drivers. It's actually a medley , of sorts , back to back with a hilarious (Tho' infinitely superior)modified cover version of "RIO' BY Duran Duran. POP - PUNK BEFORE IT SUCKED.........Both tracks , togethe r, could'nt be well above one minute.

    • Hey gang! Hope you've all had an opportunity to check out and download the latest volume of the Hideout Comp Series, "Garage Monsters"! It's quite a whopper, clocking in with 33 tracks and over an hour and 37 minutes! Those of you who are active enough here to qualify for membership in our exclusive GRGPNK Records group (gotta be a comp band member, zine writer/radio show/podcast DJ or post on this site several times per month to qualify) can get this sucker (along with the previous 8 volumes) for free, while the rest of ya deadbeats gotta pay for it... but that's no sweat at just $10 or less on the various download sites, right? In fact, I just spotted Garage Monsters over on eMusic, so if you've got a membership there you can go grab the whole thing for just $5.99. We also have it for sale in our Bandcamp store for $9.99 and it should be available VERY soon on iTunes, Zune, Amazon.com, etc.

Don't miss out, though! This is thee perfect soundtrack for your HOWL-O-WEEN shenanigans!!! And I ain't lyin'!

    • New and now bands I'm digging?  Two newish bands in Denver -- Thee Dang Dangs and The Blue Rider.  Also, first heard of Thee Outlets yesterday, and really like them...kinda wish they were on the bill for our Molotow show in a couple weeks.  Also digging Holy Wave outta Austin, but they're really a drone psych band, not so much garage.

    • I just realised the text says " Talkin' 'bout you" (or could be: talking about Girls?). My english´s not really good...sorry folk!

Maybe The Gravediggers V made a cover(?). Ask Leighton Koizumi! ;)

    • October 3, 2012 5:14 AM CDT
    • That actually may be the band. The vocals and way of singing are very similar.

The djs that played that night were king kosta, kid border, and joe travolta.

I contacted soulcat about a year ago, they messaged kid border, and he said that King Kosta was probably who played it but no one knew where he was...

Thanks for replying. I wish to go back to that amazing bar.

    • I´m pretty sure the last two notes of the recording (two firsts of a new song) are yes the Sonics but "Have Love, Will Travel", not Psycho.

By the way, the song you´re looking for could be "Night of the Phantom" by The Gravedigger V. I believe to recognize Leighton Koizumi´s voice and the song is this one i guess, or very similar... but sounds like a live recording, not the original version.

I know the Soulcat in Berlin, who was the Dj at that time?
