live on central coast of california. was very active in the long beach music scene during the mid-to late 7t's with bands like The Suburban Lawns, The Plugz, Salvation Army, Rhino 39 etc.
we would rent spaces in the rundown section of downtown Long Beach and put on art and music shows. space rent would be $50 to $75 a month!
now, those spaces are "lofts" and rent for thousands!! those were very heady days. i can't tell you all the bands i saw play The Whiskey from 1970 to 1980. then, there was The Masque, The Zero Club, Rodney's Disco,
Hong Kong Cafe, Madame Wong's and a bunch of "floating clubs" that would open just for one night. back in those days there was trouble with the cops. one had to be one step ahead.
