Johnny Kidd had so much style...he was influenced a great deal by Gene Vincent ( 20:31 , 22:10.), R'n'B, and Country , but , he added something distinctly English to the proceedings. He was flirting with Soul music, a bit , just before he died. The classic Pirates lineup (Mick Green , Johnny Spence , Frank Farley.) kept playing out until Farley suffered a muscular disorder that forced him to retire from the Drums. Then , guitar god , Mick Green died after recovering from a Quadruple Bypass surgery , and returning to work with The Pirates ( He'd also been playing with Paul McCartney , Bryan Ferry and Van Morisson.). They were tentatively scheduled to play the Green Bay Rockin' 50's Festival , but , the fest was cancelled. I think it would have been their third - ever US performance. If even. Johnny Spence actually made a great album a few years ago with , I think , a Swedish Rockabilly band less
