To see , firsthand , how things looked before meltdown , expected. , SEEK OUT THE US Festival SET . My friend saw The Clash at the ' 83 US FEST , he said JOE GOT REAL WOUND UP BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE'NT DANCING AND MOVING ABOUT AT 4:00 (OR WHENEVER) ...... IF YOU SEE THAT VIDEO , THO' , JOE WAS TURNING THAT ANGER AROUND , INTO THE MUSIC , AS TOWNSEND USED TO , AND THEY ROCKED IT. Anyway , they got off easy , The RAMONES WERE PELTED WITH CRAP AND RECIEVED SO NEGATIVELY BY AN AUDIENCE WHO PROBABLY BRAGS ABOUT SEEING IT ALL THE TIME , NOW, They said "Fuck this" , gave their loving fans the finger , and left. I've never heard it mentioned , but I would'nt be shocked ... less

They've played Chicago , once . EVER . In 1981. This was , of course (I think) before Europe adopted them as one of their own. Rudi did to solo gigs (With my friend , Mark Lane , who sometimes tours Europe with The Fuzztones , now, got his band to back Rudi up , 3 times , and , collectively , less than 100 people attended those three shows. BUT i WOULD HAVE KILLED TO HAVE HAD one Garage band in Dallas in the 80's (There was The Shitty Beatles , whom I learned later , are friends with Kid Congo. THEY WERE KIND OF ALLL OVER THE PLACE , but they did obvious Seeds , Elevators , Standells , Sonics , etc. , which I'd often sing with them. They di... less

They played in '80 at a Mainstream Rock / Metal CLUB. i'M TOLD , A LOT OF METAL CHICKS STARTED FUCKING WITH THE CRAMPS' FEMALE FANS , AND A BIG BRAWL BROKE OUT. THE CRAMPS DID'NT PLAY DALLAS AGAIN FOR 10 YEARS, WHEN THEY HAD A TOUR WITH SOME MONEY BEHINd IT....i FIRST SAW THEM IN CHICAGO , on that same tour. I'd been a fan for 9 years. I would've had more memories to bank on by '90 , but they probably knew how uncool they were considered in that area. Still , I got caught up. less
