  • NEW ARRIVALS - 2013.07

VARIOUS - GROUP FLEX, VOL. 2 (SON OF FLEX) (6X7")
Volume 2 in Castle Face's 'Group Flex' series of Flexi Disc books. You get six 7-inch flexi discs with 12 bands and 7 pages of print (on translucent stock), so the whole thing is like a crappy 3D look into the brain and art of JOE ROBERTS (terrifying). Features exclusive tracks from WARM SODA, THEE OH SEES, TY SEGALL, MYKAL CRONIN, THE MALLARD, RUNNING, THE FRESH & ONLYS, KELLEY STOLTZ, WHITE FENCE, BLASTED CANYONS, SIC ALPS, and BURNT ONES. Also includes a download card. Everything is presented in a specially printed heavy polybag. Nice!

HIPBONE SLIM & THE KNEE TREMBLERS - GO HOG WILD (10")
A cool ten-inch from one of the most important garage bands of the world, consisting of British scene classics of the past 30 years (Headcoats, Milkshakes, Sir Bald Diddley, Kaisers, Wildebeests, Louie & the Louies, Kneejerk Reaction, Masonics...). Featured are ten splendid party knockers that blend rock'n'roll and rhythm'n'blues.

EVANS, MONSIEUR JEFFREY -& HIS C.C. RIDERS- - C.C. RIDERS
C.C. RIDERS were: MONSIEUR JEFFREY EVANS (vocals, guitar), JAMES ARTHUR (guitar), JAY REATARD (guitar) and ALICJA TROUT (drums). The band was something of a Memphis super group. Jeffrey Evans had formerly fronted the GIBSON BROS. and was winding down '68 COMEBACK when C.C. Riders formed in 2000. James Arthur, who had recently moved to Memphis from Los Angeles, was an ex-member of FIREWORKS and THE NECESSARY EVILS, Jay Reatard (REATARDS) and Alicja Trout (ex-CLEARS, MOUSEROCKET) were just getting LOST SOUNDS off the ground when Jeffrey asked them to round out the C.C. Riders lineup. In 2001, Alicja and Jay recorded C.C. Riders' self-titled CD. The CDR was released on Trout's Contaminated label; it was hand numbered and limited to only 100 copies. Among the album's highlights is a flushed out version of Evans' stellar original, 'Long, Long Ballad Of The Red-Headed Girl'. C.C. Riders played their last shows and wound down around 2002. Edition of 500 copies.

    EXPECTED - 2013.07

CHILDISH, BILLY -& THE CHATHAM FORTS- - ALL OUR FORTS ARE WITH YOU/MUSICAL TRIBALIST
Another year and another name. This band is a little different to the recent stuff coming from Mr Childish, for a start he's back on lead vocals, the sound is more akin to The Mighty Caesers/Headcoats with even a little of The Pop Rivets in there as well, a slightly angular, new wave approach.

ELECTRIC PRUNES/SHADOWS OF KNIGHT - ALL THE KING'S HORSES/I NEVER KNEW
Sneak preview from the upcoming Fuzztones tribute album IN FUZZ WE TRUST! Main Fuzztone Rudi Protrudi asked his favourite 60s psych- and garage-bands to record a Fuzztones tune and all of them responded favourably and paid tribute to the seminal band. The Electric Prunes track features guest appearances by The Pretty Things, Sean Bonniwell (Music Machine) and Arthur Lee (Love). The Shadows Of Knight track features original Fuzztones member Elan Portnoy on guitar. Limited edition 7" with picture sleeve"!

FISHER, SONNY - ROCKIN' DADDY (DEMO)/HOLD ME BABY (DEMO)
Amazing finds! Genre Defining 1955 Texas Rockabilly. One side is an alternative version of Sonny's first Starday 45 - Rockin' Daddy, which has appeared on a couple of comps over recent years but the flip is the real revelation here, as it features a completely different & unissued version of Hold Me Baby. This side has never seen the light of day till now. Both sides taken from an original Gold Star acetate.

LANNIS, LOUISIANA - TONGUE TWISTER BOOGIE/WALKING OUT
Fantastic & super rare on original - Only a handful of copies known. This is a killer primitive Hick Country Rockabilly 2 sided bopper featuring the cream of the Starday House band on back up and recorded at Gold Star in Houston.

    ROBERTAS, LAS - DISSECTED AFFAIR
Costa Rica's all-girl-garage-rippers LAS ROBERTAS return, following two years of intriguing silence. This EP was well worth the wait. Featuring two originals and a cover of 'Foggy Eyes' by their heroes Beat Happening, the record was recorded in Costa Rica and mixed by Plateaus' JON GREENE in San Diego.

    BISCUIT - MEMORABILIA
A Spanish band that draws influences from '60s garage, (freak-)beat, soul, folk, and psychedelic pop and rock, but with a philosophy of their own. Vinyl edition.

    CATHOLIC SPRAY - EARTH SLIME
Trashy garage pop from Paris, France, by a band that formed in 2010. Some members also play in Zyklon Beach and Strange Odd Mysteries. Crampsy dark surf and reverb-rich punk balladry.

    EXQUISITES - EXQUISITES
Urgent rock, highlighted by driving drums, walls of guitar, and singer Jason Clackley's soulful howl, which Greg Cartwright fans will find all too welcoming.

FALCO, TAV -& THE PANTHER BURNS- - LORE & TESTAMENT, VOL. 2 (2LP)
The Tav Falco Panther Burns reissue/remaster-series, part II! This one contains the Sugar Ditch Revisited EP (1985) and The Shake Rag EP (1986). Plus a previously unreleased 11-song/45 minute live show from the Messepalast Vienna from 1989. Pristine recording by the ORF. Limited edition 2x180 gram heavyweight vinyl. Foldout-cover featuring the original 12"-sleeves. Full colour printed innersleeves featuring extensive liner notes by Tav Falco himself. Stickered mentioning its contents. The master of a raw and shambolic fusion of rockabilly, blues, and fractured noise, Falco was, along with the Cramps, one of the earliest purveyors of what would come to be known as psychobilly (though his version of the sound lacked the campy horror movie ambience others brought to it), and he anticipated the fractured but hard-hitting blues wailing of the Gories and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion by close to a decade. Side 1: SUGAR DITCH REVISITED: 1. Money Talks (Mac Rice) East Memphis Music 2:38 2. Arkansas Stomp (Bobby Lee Trammel) Joe Joe Music 4:11 3. Working On A Building (Arr. Charlie Feathers) Feathers Pub. 5:25 4. White Silver Sands (Matthews/Reinhardt) Sharina Music 2:52 5. Lonely Avenue (Doc Pomus) Unichappell Music 3:02 6. Tina, The Go Go Queen (Mac Rice) East Memphis Music 4:00. Side 2: SHAKE RAG: 1. Cuban Rebel Girl (Tav Falco) Bull Cow Music 3:15 2. Warrior Sam (Don Willis) East Memphis Music 2:48 3. Shade Tree Mechanic (Shamwell/Prestage/Godbo) Malaco Music 3:10 4. Jumper on the Line (Rural Burnside) Music River Pub. 3:48. LIVE AT MESSEPALAST: Side 3 + 4: LIVE AT MESSEPALAST: 1. Pass The Hatchet 2. Mona Lisa 3. Ditch Digging 4. Oh, Pretty Woman 5. Tina, The Go Go Queen 6. Shade Tree Mechanic 7. Running Wild 8. It's Only Make Believe 9. Cuban Rebel Girl 10. Poor Man 11. Have Love, Will Travel.

    FERGUSON - LEAP YEAR
The second full-length by this explosive Spanish band. Vinyl version.

FERGUSON - MT FRIENDS ARE MY CULTURE
The debut full-length by this explosive Spanish band. Vinyl version.

JACKSON, WANDA - ROCKIN' WITH WANDA (USA)
Equals parts straight rockabilly, hilarious late '50s camp, honky tonk, and country music, Wanda Jackson's 'Rockin' With Wanda', originally released by Capitol in 1960, helped her establish the title of "the Queen Of Rockabilly". Wanda's massive influence on defining the exact nature of early rock and roll music went far beyond her genre and her "heyday" of The '50s and '60s. For pure energy and rebelliousness, it compares favorably with the best of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. Includes the rockabilly hits 'Fujiyama Mama', 'Mean Mean Man' and 'Hot Dog! That Made Him Mad'. This is an excellent vinyl-reissue.

KING SALAMI & THE CUMBERLAND 3 - COOKIN' UP A PARTY
With a repertoire influenced by many of the great songs of the '50s and '60s made to sound fresh and new to modern ears, you won't be able to help but move your feet when the Cumberland Three are blasting out of your speakers. The King howls like Screaming Jay Hawkins with Bo Diddley chasing his coat-tail, whilst Andre Williams tries to offer up some of his bacon fat, and the Trashman do the 'Surfin' Bird' behind him. This is a man who never stops shakin' and twistin' and groovin'.

LOVELY BAD THINGS - THE LATE GREAT WHATEVER
Deeply embedded in California's DIY scene, the The Lovely Bad Things have cultivated a devoted fan base through sharing the stage (or lack thereof) with noteworthy acts The Growlers, Abe Vigoda, The Thermals, Screaming Females, OFF!, Wavves, No Age, Crystal Antlers, and Peter, Bjorn and John. Brought together by time and fate-they'd all known each other since high school, but finally made a band together in 2009-and named by some kind of esoteric computer filename error too complex to further explain, Orange County's Lovely Bad Things are the hyperactive omnitalented and relentlessly hilarious garage-pop band who crowdfunded their way to an encore performance at the world-famous Primavera Sound festival and whose new album The Late Great Whatever was titled during a dream at the suggestion of their spirit guide, who happens to look strangely like Dinosaur Jr. drummer Murph.

    MORLOCKS - SUBMERGED ALIVE
Reissue of the second album (1987) by San Diego's garage rock heroes. Much sought after, now available again on blue vinyl. Limited edition of 500, including rare pix, flyers and liner notes by Leighton.

MOUSE & THE TRAPS - THE FRATERNITY YEARS
Mouse & The Traps, from Texas are principally known for the classic garage and folk-rock of A Public Execution, Maid Of Sugar and Lie, Beg, Borrow & Steal. Based in the eastern city of Tyler and evolving from a group of pickers who hung out at Robin Hood Brian's recording studio, Mouse (Ronnie Weiss) and his band ruled the region in the latter half of the 60s. The Traps made a name for themselves throughout the south with some incendiary performances and scored several regional hits, with the Dylan-laced Execution making the national charts in 1966. Signed to the venerable Cincinnati indie Fraternity, with a dozen singles under their belt, there were rumours among collectors for years that a Mouse & The Traps LP existed. There never was an album, but now Big Beat has decided to condense the contents of their well-received Mouse & The Traps CD anthology The Fraternity Years into one all-killer vinyl edition. It's the kind of power-packed disc fans would have hoped for back in the day. As a special bonus, it includes a previously unissued alternate version of the acts 1968 single Sometimes You Just Can't Win. SIDE ONE: 1. A PUBLIC EXECUTION 2. MAID OF SUGAR, MAID OF SPICE 3. NOBODY CARES 4. I'M A MAN 5. LIKE I KNOW YOU DO 6. I AM THE ONE 7. DO THE BEST YOU CAN 8. I'VE GOT HER LOVE - Chris St John. SIDE TWO: 1. CRYIN' INSIDE 2. LIE, BEG, BORROW AND STEAL 3. SOMETIMES YOU JUST CAN'T WIN 4. LOOK AT THE SUN 5. I SATISFY 6. ALL FOR YOU 7. YOU DON'T LOVE ME 8. PROMISES PROMISES.

    BACK IN STOCK - 2013.07

ESCAVELS - YOU SHOULD NOW/LONELY SEA
Two mid western landlocked surf classics cut to acetate in 1965 and unheard until now. Features future members of Pacifica Gas and Electric and McDonald and Sherby! Includes photo / bio insert and hand stamped sleeve. Limited edition of 350 records. 45 r.p.m. The Escavels bridge the gap between The Ravens and the legendary Chicago garage punks The Things To Come. They were considered the teen heartthrobs (surely not more than the Ravens!?) of the west suburban Chicagoland dance scene and actually won the Talented Teen Contest in 65! Some Escavels members went on to some pretty heavy gigs: from garage legends (Things To Come) to major label blues n boogie bands (Pacific Gas & Electric) to cult psychedelic albums (McDonald & Sherby), their influence might surprise you. The lucky guys cut a single acetate that were really excited to share with the world. Two mid western landlocked surf classics, locked away for 47 years.

GRIFFITH HARTER UNION - PROGRESS/A HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY
Two forgotten Chicago garage rock classics from the dawn of "long-hair" and the wah-wah pedal in 1967. Two great PRETTY THINGS covers. Includes photo / bio insert and hand stamped sleeve. Limited edition of 300 records. 45 r.p.m. Alonas Dream Records is pleased to present a reissue of the only single from fabled Chicago garage rock band: The Griffith Harter Union. These sides, originally recorded at Chess Studios, represent the only audible remains of the band which played frequently in Chicagos burgeoning "Old Town" music scene. The record was originally released in an edition of a few hundred on the Chicago label "Jim-Ko" in 1967. The searing lead guitar on the A-side Progress is a tough Chicago garage take on a song made popular by The Pretty Things and features the very early use of a wah-wah pedal, which was only invented in late 1966. The band played all the major clubs throughout Chicago and its suburbs as well as a few gigs on the road, including a two week booking at the Aragon Ballroom backing up Baby Huey and the Babysitters. They were also featured at the first Chicago "Human Be-In" held on Mothers Day 1967 in Lincoln Park. The band existed from 1967 until 1969.

    STOOGES - 1969/1970
Limited edition 500 numbered copies, Live Tokyo 2004.
