EXPECTED - 2012.47

  • Single (7")

BLANC, HUE -'S JOYLESS ONES- - BEARING ON THE MOOR
Hue Blanc's Joyless Ones produce too violent a racket to be the Dream Syndicate, run too tight a ship to be Flipper, and are from way too far up north to be the Gun Club. Their dense-packed sonic soup is the kind of music that keeps parking lots dangerous and substance abuse interesting. Edition of 500 copies on randumbly mixed coloured vinyl.

CAVE DWELLERS - RUN AROUND (2X7")
Recorded in 1967 at Chicago's Universal Studios and laboriously laden with Buckinghams-style horns and strings, the Cave Dwellers thought theyd locked their first hit down. Given just a few minutes to produce a B-side, the quintet unleashed their primitive and theretofore-unheard power. 'Run Around' ended up a punk precursor that took contemporary rock to its tough, angry, and logical conclusions, scorching past anything the radio ran in its day. Intending only to tear off something fast and easy, the Dwellers had achieved one of Chicago garage rock's most ferocious moments. That original Jim-Ko single has been reproduced alongside two previously unissued rockers and housed in a glorious gatefold sleeve with copious notes and quotes from a confused newsman about the "longhair" invasion.

Though featuring Kenny and Brandon from GOVERNMENT WARNING on vocals and guitar respectively, you shouldn't expect any high speed '80s hc rippers. Under their Southside Stranglers moniker they mix equal parts of '60s garage rock (SONICS) and '70s punk rock (PAGANS, DMZ).

TRIXIE TRAINWRECK NO MAN BAND - HARD WORKIN GIRL
The first time I met Trixie Trainwreck, I was fascinated by her stunning appearance, truly she was the blonde goddess of planet "Tattoo"! But don't make it that easy: lovely Miss Trainwreck is a gifted singer, talented songwriter and a serious rockin' musician. Being one of the two singing ladies in the awesome, one and only berlin-based cabaret punk outfit " The Kamikaze Queens", or as a member of the breathtaking all-girl honky tonk quartet "The Runaway Brides" and last, but not least ,the frontlady of the rockabilly-sweethearts "The Cry Babies" - Trixie is always 100% convincing and a charming performer. Here now is the first record of her solo project, aptly named "Trixie Trainwreck No Man Band"! Miss Trixie plays guitar, drums and sings in the tradition of the old timey one man-blues bands. And she's doin' this with coolness, love and understanding for this kind of music. The three songs on this killer '45 will make you shout for more. If you ever be able to see Trixie "live", her shows are a "must see"! Miss Trainwreck is the perfect mix between Blind Lemon Jefferson, Patsy Cline and Debbie Harry. ~Tex Morton. Mastering by Tim Warren/Crypt Records!

COCHRAN, EDDIE - SINGIN' TO MY BABY
'Singin' To My Baby' is Eddie "Summertime Blues" Cochran's first LP, originally released in 1958, just two years before he was tragically killed in a car accident (rockabilly king Gene Vincent was also in the car, but lived) at the age of 21, while touring the UK. Despite his early death, Cochran left a lasting mark on rock & roll history. The epitome of the fifties rebel rocker, and also, as music journalist Bruce Eder so rightfully put it, "rocks first high-energy guitar hero, the forerunner to Pete Townshend, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman and, at least in terms of dexterity, Jimi Hendrix". His influence was felt on everyone from the Beatles, to Blue Cheer, to the Sex Pistols (who covered Cochran's "Something Else"). Although "Summertime Blues" was his biggest hit, becoming an anthem for teen rebellion and disenchantment with the status quo, many of his songs were along this vein, making him a hero to generations of disgruntled teens. SIDE A: 1. Sittin' In The Balcony 2. Completely Sweet 3. Undying Love 4. I'm Alone Because I Love You 5. Lovin' Time 6. Proud Of You 7. Am I Blue. SIDE B: 1. Twenty Flight Rock 2. Drive In Show 3. Mean When I'm Mad 4. Stockin's "N" Shoes 5. Tell Me Why 6. Have I Told You Lately That I Love You 7. Cradle Baby 8. One Kiss.

    CUBICAL - ARISE CONGLOMERATE
Deluxe 180-gram vinyl LP version with gatefold sleeve and one extra track plus donwload. A superb mixture of swamp blues and garage rock'n'roll! This album presents The Cubical at their raucous best, with lead guitarist Alex Gavaghan and rhythm man Johnny Green's twanging telecasters innately snaking around lead singer Dan Wilson's trademark blues growl as Mark Percy and Craig Bell's rhythm section incessantly pound away underneath it all.

    DIE! DIE! DIE! - HARMONY
The fourth full length by this outfit from Dunedin, New-Zealand, 'Harmony', brings together the raw energy and emotion from their live shows, encapsulating savant pop elements (à la Bailterspace and Dead C) with their DIY punk philosophy. Produced by Chris Townend (Portishead, D12, Violent Femmes), and bringing back Shayne P. Carter on vocals, 'Harmony' is set to be one of THE albums of 2012.

PRESLEY, ELVIS - ELVIS' CHRISTMAS ALBUM
The initial reaction to the release of this album was unbelievably one of controversy. Irving Berlin was actually horrified that his 'White Christmas' was being sullied by the vulgar kid with the gyrating pelvis, and many others agreed. The year was 1957 and Elvis was still young (just 22) and dangerous, 'Jailhouse Rock' had just hit the box offices and his 'Hound Dog'/'Don't Be Cruel' single was still at the top of the charts. But despite his status as the ultimate rebel, Elvis actually managed to deliver pretty convincing versions of these Christmas classics, so much so that although Irving Berlin may still be rolling over in his grave, the album itself has taken its place as one of the best known and loved Christmas albums of all time. Featuring 9 bonus tracks, all recorded in 1957. SIDE A: 1. Santa Claus Is Back In Town 2. White Christmas 3. Here Comes Santa Claus (Down Santa Claus Lane) 4. I'll Be Home For Christmas 5. Blue Christmas 6. Santa, Bring My Baby Back (To Me) 7. Silent Night 8. Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem 9. Treat Me Nice (bonus) 10. My Wish Came True (bonus) 11. Don't (bonus). SIDE B: 1. I Believe 2. Tell Me Why (bonus) 3. Got A Lot O Livin' To Do! (bonus) 4. All Shook Up (bonus) 5. Mean Woman Blues (bonus) 6. (There'll Be) Peace In The Valley (For Me) 7. I Beg Of You (bonus) 8. That's When Your Heartaches Begin (bonus) 9. Take My Hand, Precious Lord.

    SEA-DERS - THE SEA-DERS
This specially-priced Lion Productions LP edition contains all known grooving and infectious Middle Eastern inflected rock/beat tracks from the Sea-ders (or Cedars, depending on which 45 label you look at), Lebanon's top musical export to the world. Eight dynamic tracks, with driving rhythms, blazing electric bouzouki (or oud?), recorded between 1966-1968. Fantastic! Many groups have used elements of Eastern music to add mystery and exotica to their sound; the Sea-ders didn't flirt with foreign culture-they tapped right into the source. Decca Records contacted the group and offered them a record deal in the UK. Well, that didn't pan out, making the band's EP a very rare item indeed, despite being one of the most exciting releases of the era. Faced with studio bills from Decca, they sold their instruments and equipment and moved back to Beirut, leaving this perfect microcosm of exotic '60s pop in their wake. Liner notes by Mike Stax (Ugly Things Magazine). Limited pressing of only 500 copies. This time around, vinyl is mastered at 45 RPM, for maximum fidelity. The Sea-ders would only record eight tracks, but what amazing tracks they are! "As Record Collector magazine once noted, the Sea-Ders took a decidedly different tack when approaching this thing that is rock & roll. Instead of spiraling into over the top eastern-flavored otherness (like so many of their peers at the time) the Sea-Ders, having landed in London and signed to Decca in 1967, embraced a more primal, early Kinks-esque, approach to their songwriting. Coming from Beirut their take on the genre was already unique with succinct flourishes of psych and freakbeat coupled with their inherent cultural influences. Like so many non-western takes on the genre, the end result is a curious and unexpected gem." -Aquarium Drinkard. "They effortlessly combine hookah-smoked Middle-Eastern guitar lines & hand drum beats with flawless London pop-psych production, and the effect is decidedly heady." -Weirdo Records.

    STOOGES - A THOUSAND LIGHTS

'1970' 2.18 Gooselake 8th August 1970 Side Two: 1. 'Dirt' 5.38 New York unknown 2. '1970' 5.17 New York unknown 3. 'Fun House' 8.52 Chicago 18th July 4 . 'TV Eye' 1.36 Cincinatti 13th June 5.
