Lit the FUSE!

  • Playing with a band for the first time in  years really got my adrenaline pumping.  My schedule makes doing that regularly still a bit difficult, but working with those guys did open to me the possibilities. It also lit a fuse. Or more correctly FUSE. As in Fender FUSE -- a software system that allows for total connectivity not only between a computer and a guitar amp, but more important, between a musician and the sound he or she hears in his or her head.

I'd turned on to the power of digital amplification some years ago. In fact I been writing for the "Black Box Band" for about 15 years. Too I've sold (I can hear you gasp!) several of my "classic" amps and have for the most part been playing through a Line 6 Duoverb for about six years. But FUSE -- especially as its used in the Fender G-DEC line of amps -- is something else again.

In short never has so much creative power and tone been accessible so quickly and easily. Never has turning up the amp been able to mean "turning up the band." as it does here.

My musical companions of several weeks ago played silently and listened to their own music through earphones if for no other reason than to assure domestic harmony My wife Jan -- a rockin' musician herself -- asks nothing like that of me. When I turn on that amp (and the numerous bands it contains) the house itself rocks. I like that.

If any of the above has peaked anyone's interest more details are available here.

    Rock on!
