    • We're looking for a studio here in Toronto to cut 3-5 songs for possible release. We need better than demo quality. There are plenty of studios here in town but we need just the right person to get the sound we're looking for.

We're a  3 piece (2 guitars/drums) sinister, primitive garage/punk/blues outfit in the vein of Gories/Oblivians with some of the psychotic energy of The Stooges, the soul of Detroit and Memphis, and the dark voodoo vibe of The Cramps and The Gun Club. Very high energy, very dark and primal. I sing through a harmonica mike and we're soaked in reverb, tremolo and fuzz.

Preferably, we're looking for someone who loves this stuff as much as we do so nobody has to do any explaining and our heads are in the same place. Not looking for the "this shit is easy, yeah I can do it" slumming attitude. That's why we want somebody who gets what we're doing.

If this is you or you know somebody who might fit the bill, get in touch!

    • Tanx Blackcat69!!!

There's lots more Canuck comps out there. Here's an amazing source for garage band comps:

      http://www.ugly-things.com/

then go to 60's comp database, lots of modern garage stuff on there as well.

      enjoy!

    • I know there is series called It Came From Canada.  I have never heard this.  Is it worth finding and also what else is a worthy comp w/ Canadian content?

    • Hey All,

We're brand, spanking new to this site, but joined in the hopes of connecting with some cool people who live in other parts of Canada. Just thought I'd poke my head in and see if people were interested in sharing resources on venues and contact info. for movers and shakers (both bands and venues/promoters) in their respective scenes...we'd be willing to do our part here in Edmonton. Any takers?

      Rock On,

      Alex

    • The Done Right was just like you said, good tunes - had some ale there and ended up at the Dakota bar for some local live music, it was aok. Rotate this had some good records but they were closing when we got there, before that I traded some rare vinyl at Neurotica down the street. very artsy neighborhood, reminds me of Wiliamsburg in Bklyn...

    • I'd say hop on a plane and jet to Vancouver... Catch a show at the Rickshaw then tilt back a few cold ones at the Railway Club but if your stuck in Hog town try the Caddilac Lounge for your juke joint maybe Shanghai Cowgirl for a bite, if only the Matador was still open... Good times till the wee morning hours. The Black Bull has aa decent patio to catch Queen street crawlers and they serve good ole Labatt 50!

    • Will be in Toronto tomorrow (Aug 5) and need to know  if there are any decent pubs n'clubs to kill an eve after going to  record shops all day. I looked at the online listings and it looks like a  blandscape of hip hop, country and specious indie folk - although there  are a lot of clubs I must say.

I would settle for a halfway legit gin joint with a decent jukebox.

Any GRGPNKers got the inside scoop?

    • Fredericton, NB's ATOMIC MACHETES' "ROCK AND ROLL IS THE ONLY THING WE GOT" burned up the campus charts in 2004 and their 2005 Maritime Mutant Invasion Tour is now the thing of legends, but as quickly as it all began, it ended.

In their short existence they shared the stage with the likes of Zeke, Tricky Woo, SNFU, Dayglo Abortions, the Illuminati, Bitchin Camaros, C'mon, Red Hot Lovers, Maximum RNR, Black Halos (those sorts of shows sure as shit haven't been coming around these parts in ages), laid waste to the Halifax Pop Explosion, and still lay claim to one of the most played albums in Maritime campus radio history.

Now, for the first time in years "ROCK AND ROLL IS THE ONLY THING WE GOT" is available once again.
