      Friday October 19th

      Celebrating our third anniversary!!!

London’s hot hang-out for desperate rock’n’rollers. At Deviation Street you’ll see & hear the best new garage bands we can find.

In addition resident DJ Phil Istine & guest DJ Luca Pasteris (Italy) will be on hand with the vintage vinyl, spinning 45s of garage, beat, R&B, rock’n’roll, & other assorted trash.

      LIVE:
      THE FRANKLYS
      http://www.facebook.com/thefranklys
An all female primitive rock’n’roll force! Swedes Jennifer & Fanny, Englishwoman Zoë & Americano Nicole are a band to watch out for. The girls mix pure rock’n’roll with catchy punk & pop riffs. "If 50's rock'n'roll met 70's punk and had a lovechild, it would be The Franklys"
      say The Grapevine.

      DEATH BY SEXY
      http://www.facebook.com/DeathBySexyOfficial
Death By Sexy are an all girl band from London, with a frontMAN hailing from Los Angeles. Death By Sexy play ‘Drug Pop’. Described as: ‘A dirty hum with a taste of bubblegum. The sound of rat pedals with the smell of rose petals. The feel of white heat and a little bit of sweet’.

      CAT BLACK
      http://www.facebook.com/cat.black.band
Individually these boys have recorded with Paul Weller, jammed with The Strokes and toured supporting Primal Scream, Beady Eye and OCS. These lads are keeping real Rock’n’Roll alive, they are a must see band with a modern day twist.

    • Thanks for all the advice guys!

I've heard State stuff and the sound quality really is terrific. But let me throw a complication into the pot (and sorry for being a techno ignoramus). Our members are scattered from LA to Toronto so we will never be in the same room together. The bass, drums and vocs are already recorded (digitally). Just my guitar to be re-recorded, then the whole thing mixed. Is that possible, or does the whole thing have to be analog in an analog studio??

Dumb question I know but this is my first time sticking a record together!

    • September 29, 2012 10:40 AM CDT
    • Having a lot of State Records stuff I'd say that sounds like a really good bet Chris. The sound is always spot on with anything that's recorded at Sandgate.

    • September 29, 2012 10:20 AM CDT
    • Hi Chris, come to Sandgate Sound Studios, just outside Folkestone in Kent. We record to 8-track half-inch tape, £100 a day plus tape costs. I doubt you'll find cheaper than that for the sound quality - most State Records stuff has been recorded there (Higher State, Paul Messis, Groovy Uncle, Suzi Chunk, Galileo 7, Hidden Masters etc etc).

Give me a shout if you're interested!

    • We went to Ranscome studios in Rochester down on the Medway. Jim Riley's a bit of a local legend in the old Medway garage scene and has recorded Billy Childish many times.

    • We have released a single by Wobbly Lamps which was recorded and mastered by Seamus Wong Studio in Leicester. They are going back there at the end of the month to record their second EP.

    • Hi there,

I need to record 2 guitar tracks and get a final mix done before sorting out the masters for my band's first 7" release. Can anyone recommend a good, cheap and punk-friendly studio, preferably in the East/South East of the UK? Well-equipped home studios are OK too!

      Thanks!

      Chris

    • Ok thank you Mike for your advices, I'll check this!

    • September 25, 2012 3:02 PM CDT
    • Check out Camden town. The Underworld, the Barfly and the Electric Ballroom are all music venues that have different styles of music on. The Wheelbarrow also in Camden Town sometimes has bands on. Go further north to Kentish Town and the Bull and Gate has some decent bands that start out there.

The Islington Academy is nice in a clean kind of way. The Garage in Highbury is a cool place if there's a decent band on.

We are Proud to Announce this Killer Live Act for our Warming Party! Exclusive for one Show only and the First Tyme in Austria! Directly from London Town:

      Live:
KING SALAMI & THE CUMBERLAND THREE (LONDON/UK)

In 2006, one Japanese, one French, one Caribbean and one Spanish got together to form a black rhythm & blues party band!
London's newest R&B-punk sensation – okay, maybe our only R&B-punk outfit – are making fun times where ever they go. With a repertoire encompassing many of the greats of the ’50s and ’60s you won't be able to help but move your feet. The King howls like Screaming Jay Hawkins with Bo Diddley chasing his coat-tail and with Andre Williams trying to offer up some of his bacon fat. This man never stops shakin' and twistin' and groovin' while the Cumberland 3 (former members of the Ulcers, Chinese Lungs and Parkinsons) play their own branded mix of vintage rockabilly desperate rock'n'roll and a bit of soul with fire, energy, gusto and fun!
They have played all over Europe, sharing the stage with the Pretty Things, the Trashmen, the Standells, the Mummies, the Bellrays, the Cynics, etc...and have released a bunch of killer 45's on different European record labels. Their first full lenght album is now out on Dirty Water records!
