Anyone know any decent bars (apart from Soundgarden and Pacific Parc) in Amsterdam that play good tunes. Not necessarily band venues, but somewhere to have a beer with quality background tunes.

TONK YOUR HONK
That's very funny"The Bog Beat". You could patent that.
Hello bongoleeros
I like what you're up to - can you send me some recordings for airplay on my Dandelion Radio show?
Cheers
Pete Jackson

How do. The Bongoleeros play remedial rock n roll. A bit of Hasil Adkins. A bit of The Legendary Stardust Cowboy. A bit of bog-beat. Some 'Shires style Dada. We do gigs all over the place. We've played Bradford Indoor market on a Saturday afternoon and A market square in Switzerland. We've been naked in Berlin & had mither in Holland, Belgium and elsewhere.
We're looking to find like minded bogbrains for lo-watt action (we only have one battery amp and a megaphone) so if you and felow mutants crank it delierous lets sort summats!

Hi there, I´m looking for a single ROOM in AMSTERDAM center, at best close to
Melkweg for 3 days the NEXT W-END! (25-28 sept) in Exchange i offer a room for 2 person
for free in Catania center ANYTIME in the future - OR - in BERLIN KREUZBERG in the
summer (July/August 2016). Also available in alternative: a tiny house on Etna!. (You know, the highest active volcano in Europe and one of the most active volcanoes in the world!)
I´m very happy to attend the this year NSSFestival. Got my flighttickets and a few days kids-free BUT i´m really having a hard time to find a (affordable) room in a center of Amsterdam! And so my idea: Whoever is able to offer me a room (even a tiny one) for the 3 nights (25-28.09), possibly very close to the Melkweg, i will offer IN EXCHANGE a privat room for 3 nights (even for 2 people if needed) in Italy, Catania center anytime OR the same in Germany, Berlin Kreuzberg (only available in july or august 2016).
Have a look at the rooms available:
in Berlin: https://www.airbnb.it/rooms/3665990
in Catania: https://www.airbnb.it/rooms/6048129
Hope to find here a cool place by cool people, to stay. Thanx.

“Stone The Crows and fuck the pigs and pass the ammunition...”
1982, Death Church by the magnificent Rudimentary Peni never left our turntables and a year later we would use the above lyric to name our little anarcho outfit. Many thought using the Z to replace the S at the end of Crowz was just a case of punk rock spelling but in fact it was to ensure we were not mistaken for the Glaswegian Blues Rock band of the same name.
Formed in East London / Essex, a mutual love of Crass and all things anarcho first brought Trevor Speed and Trevor Delasalle together and the band was formed. After several false starts with different musicians we finally found what we were looking for in Steve Beatty (drums) and Matthew Sheath (bass). Very quickly we had a set and made our live debut supporting The Subhumans. A baptism in fire, we were mostly awful but had a ball.
In just under a year we were in the studio and recorded our first six track demo in 1985. All the anarcho subjects were covered but with three vegetarians and one vegan in the band our real passion was animal rights.
We played venues in London and the Home Counties with Liberty and Exit-Stance and an Endangered Music tour with The Fiend, Criminal Justice and HDQ.
A second demo with a much angrier feel soon followed. This time the words were backed up with members of the band being involved in hunt sabbing and other forms of direct action. Tracks from both demos ended up of vinyl: Mortarhates’ We Won't Be Your Fucking Poor, Endangered Music’s Relying On Us EP and Punk Lives, Let’s Slam released by Slam Records.
The band disbanded soon after due to the all-encompassing phrase ‘musical differences’ with a metal edge was now being incorporated into the song writing.
NOTE; Steve went on to release the seminal ‘Out From The Void’ EP by Anti-Sect which helped kick start a whole new genre of punk metal/crust which in turn inspired Trev S and Matt to form Axegrinder.

Paranoid Visions formed in Dublin in 1981 and are Eire’s longest-running punk band.
Cryptic Cross Words is the 5th album that Paranoid Visions have released since their 2006 reboot. Add to this the multitude of singles and a myriad of historical re-releases and compilations and it becomes clear that Paranoid Visions are a band who are not content to sit back and relax or attempt to trade on past glories. Indeed founder members Deko and P.A are of the opinion that there are no past glories with the recent releases being more reflective of what the band were about in the first place. Cryptic Cross Words, a culmination of a year’s recording and writing is an attempt to craft a specific album with a specific modus operandi.
“With every release we have done, there has always been a compromise, and certain styles or genres we have wanted to explore have been almost achieved, but not executed the way we imagined them…until now”.
Switching rhythm section and losing a backing vocalist in early 2014 gave the band the opportunity to form the perfect line-up and create what the band believe is best album they have ever made. It’s certainly a more focussed and strategic release that relies on soundscapes and moods that co-exist with the various musical genres the band continues to dip into. But it explores these cohesively with production that has been described by one early reviewer as being “crisp but avoids the sheen of the nu”. Certainly this album owes as much to UK Decay as it does to UK Subs, or is “more magazine than fanzine”.
Lyrically the album is tackling different subjects ranging from the Catholic Churches abuse of children, invasion in the Ukraine, sexual harmony, working culture and the voice of the downtrodden public on the verge of snapping. In the case of Anagram Sam the lyrics consist entirely of anagrams (Anagram Sam, he’s one of those NAMELESS SALESMEN, his LIFE is a FILE of anagrams, he’s the SENATOR for TREASON etc etc….you get the picture!!) whilst the album’s closer, “baNAMA Republic” is a delicate slow building acoustic song spanning seven minutes and sung by Aoife Destruction detailing the fall of the Irish economy and the corruption that facilitated it.
The album is an aesthetically beautiful white vinyl LP with free CD and 16 page booklet which includes a real cryptic cross word and word search on the sleeve (hint…the answers may all be song titles!)
Track Listing:
The Angelus (at 6pm)/ Anagram Sam/ Across the Holocausts/ Murder Most Foul/ When Anger Turns To Rage/ Paranoid visions/ Mutant Circus/ Love Letters/ Halloween/ Ba-nama Republic

I HAVE A FEELING IT WILL BE A VERY INTERESTING GIG. Perhaps the first in history where a man gets his knob out at The Royal Albert Hall.
The Damned play the Royal Albert Hall 20th May 2016
The Damned played their first show on 6 July 1976, supporting the Sex Pistols at the 100 Club, they were the first UK punk band to release a single New Rose (22nd October 1976) and the first to release an album Damned, Damned, Damned (18th Feb 1977).
Despite heralding from the punk movement they were also one of the most ambitious musically, moving away from the breakneck garage sound of their debut and taking in elements from goth and psychedelia to prog.
From the punk rock classics of Love Song and Smash It Up, to the gothic Grimly Fiendish and the cover of Paul Ryan’s Eloise, the hits flowed. The band became regulars on Top Of The Pops and were playing to huge audiences, who have remained stubbornly loyal.
Earlier this year a documentary film was released in cinemas and on DVD. Filmed by director Wes Orshoski and titled The Damned: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead, the documentary charts the history of the band against a backdrop of interviews and tour footage from 2011-2014, and was edited together rough to make the film feel more like The Damned's first album.
Next year the band celebrate their 40th anniversary and wanted to celebrate it in the greatest of style and do something truly unique for the fans, so they booked the Royal Albert Hall and are planning a very special show, the content of which is being kept a closely guarded secret.
When asked what could be expected? Vocalist Dave Vanian enigmatically replied “expect the unexpected”.
Captain Sensible responded “Anyone informing the snotty bunch of oiks that we were back in '76 that the band may be playing the Albert Hall 40 years later would've undoubtedly been greeted with a prize selection of four letter expletives. The Damned had an surly edge back then... not exactly the urbane gents about town you find us today. How we managed to come through four decades of chaos and destruction is a miracle.... even scattering a few decent records in our wake as we went.
Our 40th anniversary show will be a celebration not just of a band but a special time in British music history... the dawn of punk, when seemingly anything was possible if you could strum a couple of chords on a guitar. And if the Albert Hall is good enough for messers Clapton and Wakeman then it's good enough for us. On the night a fun and varied setlist will shine a light around the darkest corners of the jolly old discography.... can't wait!”

We've just released The Vibes LP 'Voodoo Juju' on Trash Wax on 31st May, unfortunately the green vinyl edition was more or less sold out on pre-order and is now no longer available. We do have a few dozen copies left on black, so feel free to drop us a line.
