    • Fresh from a triumphant studio date, Them Bird Things leave the runway on Wednesday, April 2 at Lepakkomies' Club Gaia in Kallio, Helsinki. The quartet debut a fresh batch of songs, including their forthcoming single, "Shame, Shame, Shame, Shame, Shame," a song that would have been guaranteed to sell a million back in '65... unfortunately it's 2008 and some folks think street construction passes for music. But I know YOU still like good pop-rock, and Them Bird Things deliver the goods. Witness a rock 'n' roll tent revival, featuring a wild-eyed fusion of psychedelia mixed with a gargantuan garage barrage and a bounty of folk-rock masquerading as Americana... All executed as only Them Bird Things can. Salla Kiehelä, Timo Vikkula, Esa Jussila and Ville Särmä tote a tackle-box of tunes... It's like fishing, man! Hooks galore with ear-worms disguised as melodies! Admission is free with a €2 coat-check. Show starts at 10 p.m. Them Bird Things will play an extended set of 18 to 20 songs - just because they like to! Them Bird Things: Finland's finest playing the tunes of legendary garage/roots rockers, Mike Brassard and Steve Blodgett... For more info, check out: www.myspace.com/thembirdthings Them Bird Things Keskiviikko 2.4. klo 22 Ravintola Lepakkomies, Club Gaia Helsinginkatu 1, Helsinki Vapaa pääsy!

    • Blow Out was a great way to start 2008!
I've had two near-misses with Primitive in the past couple of years, maybe I'll be successful this year?
Anybody know the capacity (number of attendees) for Primitive?

    • March 18, 2008 5:18 PM CDT
    • There aren't any in the USA!! ARGH!! :-(

The closest "festivals" that we have over here are CAVESTOMP in New York (when the have it), BUDGET ROCK SHOWCASE in Oakland and THE BLOW OUT in Los Angeles, but they're still not even close in comparison to Primitive, Wild Weekend, and Dracula Carnival...

I wish I could make it to the European festivals... ho hum...

    • Wouldn't miss it for the world. Best weekender of the year.

    • Too bad you're not in town for the James Taylor Quartet gig at la Maroquinerie ... or perhaps you will be ? I forgot the exact date. You can check their website if you're interested.

    • February 27, 2008 2:53 PM CST
    • thanks for the tips. we won't be going to the heavy...hopefully we find something we want to see!

    • February 25, 2008 8:17 AM CST
    • Have you checked the website of 'La Maroquinerie' ?

I'm going to the 4th March concert of The Heavy (I think the tickets are about 18 Euros though, it's hard to find cheaper than that). If you and your gang want to hook up with us there, let me know !

For really cheap concerts, you can check 'l'Entrepôt' (they have their own website), la Flèche d'Or or even l'Utopia (a bar where they have blues musicians), but though it may be cheap, the quality is not always there.

    • 40 years after the release of the Zombies’ swansong ‘Odessey & Oracle’ the original members of The Zombies will reunite to perform three special live concerts at Shepherds Bush Empire in London. Colin Blunstone (vocals), Rod Argent (keyboards/vocals), Chris White (bass/vocals); Hugh Grundy (drums) will be playing the entire ‘Odessey & Oracle’ album from start to finish and, remarkably, this will be the first time, that the original band has played these songs live on stage. One member of the original line up will be absent - Paul Atkinson sadly passed away, and his role on guitar will be replaced by Keith Airey. The first part of the concert will see the Zombies’ touring band play a selection of Zombies’ hits, as well as Colin Blunstone’s magical solo material from his critically acclaimed album, “One Year”, performed with a string section, and Rod Argent & Chris White’s superb Argent hits. Aritst: The Zombies Date: 7th, 8th & 9th March 2008 Venue: London, Shepherds Bush Empire Tickets £27.50 Box office: 0870 771 2000 / www.ticketweb.co.uk More info: www.colinblunstone.co.uk
