Hello there! I'm Mika from Kuopio, Finland. I started to listen rockabilly music when I was a little kid and later found The Cramps who got me into this fantastic world of all things cool.
I've been playing in local bands for many years and that's what I really like to do the most. Here are some samples.
Chop Suey Tell Me One Thing
The Festermen Swamp Infection
and my recent band...
The Country Dark Abducted
More info here The Country Dark facebook
Thanks!
Andy from Buffalo, NY here, a virgo, admirer of all things raw and real, I spend my days restoring vintage guitars/amps, building hot rods, and playing guitar with my combo, the Tell Tale Signs.
Boxtops - The Letter
and aeroplane and a fast train
edit: and oh yes, a letter
This is one of my favorites. Bill Haley - Train Of Sin
Keeping with trains...
Ride That Train - Oblivians
Downtown Train - Tom WaitsHear My Train A Comin' - Hendrix
Train Train - Blackfoot
Take the A Train - Duke Ellington

Hi Allan,
I got some questions ready for you but your email doesn't seem to be working, is there another I could try?
Cheers.

Adam Kemp said:Hi Allan,
Thanks for getting back to me. So many amazing bands you've been in! I'll get some questions written up and email them to you. I'll try and come see your new band when you play in Dalston too, not too far from where I am.
Cheers

That would be so much help, cheers! I'm gutted I'll never get the chance to see either of those bands, if only I'd been born a few years earlier...

Hey Adam- Yeah, I saw The Buff Medways at Cavestomp 2001 at the Warsaw in Brooklyn. What a night... just a few weeks after 9/11. The Buffs were great, obviously. The Downliners Sect played as well, and the Buffs came back out to sing along to some tracks and shake maracas, etc. I have some photos, I think (I'll have to get them out of storage). I saw Thee Headcoats a few years earlier in Manhattan (I've forgotten the venue) The Makers opened up for them.
Yeah, I could scan those zines for ya, in the spirit of research. Just give me some time to dig 'em up and warm up the scanner! Best, Matt
Adam Kemp said:So jealous you got to see those bands Matt, especially The Buff Medways. Where did you see them? Do you think there's any chance you could scan the copies of that zine into the computer? I would love to read them and I'm sure they would help. I'd never heard of it before you said.
And Jon, I'm not sure where it'll be available, I've only just started on the project but I'll definitely let you know.
Cheers.
dublE seems to be a wise man ;-)
And yes for me it's look cool too... M. Watt or M. Bruce look great with that in their hands.
Will make a little review here if I purchase it.
I'm a big fan of Birthday Party, and although these might not be in the exact same vein, heres a few I'm diggin' on: The U-Men, Cows (Cunning Stunts is me fave), Chrome Cranks, Jesus Lizard, Hammerhead, God Bullies, Rudimentary Peni...
King Khan
Mark Sultan
Ty Segall
Jack White
Jay Retard
Greg Cartwright
If we're just talking the last ten years I would say
Mark Sultan
Jay Reatard
Justin Nobunny
Gentleman Jesse Smith
Bobby Ubangi
The Black Lips definitely seemed to have influenced alot of bands when they first came out....maybe a little too much!!!
The delegation from Rogers Park is in agreement.

I hate to admit , I never really followed him , because the local Rockabilly chicks dig him so well. Generally , I don't share their opinions on latter - day Rock / Blues / Billy acts.
This takes absolutely NOTHING away from the sadness of his passing , please understand me when I say that . It's humbling to think that an Artist , or anyone for that matter , had to be taken so early in life. There is no rhyme or reason , the way I see it.
Danny Amis , however , is an inspiration to anyone who may think that it's hopeless.
It is'nt , but , it affects others in different way. Again , no rhyme or reason , except that we WILL see more people kick Cancer flat on it's ass in the future. Believe what you may , but , please believe that.
