Typically, it is held Labor Day weekend, and has been just on Sunday the past few years, but in 2010 it was held in October for some reason.

Alison , I've heard a lot of cool things about this event , but , now I'm almost in shock.    Mary Woronov
came to Chicago and appeared at two separate screenings of "Death Race 2000" and "Rock 'n'Roll High School", about 5 years ago. She was very cool and funny , and still looks great. Real class act , she is.

I have friggin' been dying to make it to one of these, but being a family man, it never pans out. I've seen in the past that the Fleshtones, Jason & the Scorchers, and the Cynics have played there, and being that Atlanta is only a 7 hour drive for me, I've thought about more than once about going "missing" from home! Have you been able to make all of them? Which bands have you gotten to see?

The "Telstar" Joe Meek biopic is wickedly great ( Self - love corner - Please see my review at www.roctober.com , which will appear in Roctober #51 , in actual print.....). I strongly recommend that everyone score themselves a copy.....But , don't trust me. I liked "Stoned" , the Brian Jones biopic , unlike (Inexplicably) most Americans.....

I'm going to be sure to watch this! Lord Sutch is such a cool and enigmatic character from from British R&R.

I was just thinking the other day how little information there is out there about his early career despite the enduring interest in Joe Meek AND what with him being one of the more famous names on his roster. Wikipedia doesn't even have a discography pre 1970!

Oh, just the usual stuff that happens to wooden guitars, warpage and drying out. I guess. Probably not as fast, though. The necks and fingerboards are still wood.

They have very good tone, and you don't have to worry as much about keeping them humidified (although common sense still applies, no leaning them against the radiator). They stay in tune better. No need for increasingly scarce premium tonewoods. A high quality guitar can be sold for less then a comparable wooden one. That's all I can think of right now. I've played a few, they were nice.

Commando was kind of unintentionally funny in a dead pan sort of way. A well designed book full of graphics and top ten lists. I enjoyed Mickey Leigh's book as well. It was very insightful on Joey Ramone's OCD condition, etc. I found Poisoned Heart a tad bitter and it showed a lot of the infighting amongst the band. Anyone read On the Road With The Ramones by tour manager Monte Melnick?
