I've got about 30 James Brown records , too.   Is there such a thing as too much?

I've even got "The Original Disco Man". IT WAS CHEAP !!! I need help , Ladies and Gentlemens ! 

The artist with the most LPs in my stash is James Brown. Haven't counted in a long time, but it's probably creeping up on 30 by now.

Neil Young is so much " part of my life " ... he writes the songs I'll never have talent for ....

 It'd be interesting , though , to hear what Glam - influenced bands did come out of Australia. There must have been some that played the part , but , maybe did'nt look it .....

I was just thinking about how , in my opinion , "The Raver"by The Troggs sounds like an early blueprint for UK Glam , though they seem to be trying to incorporate an "Aussie" hookline.

John Kongos , from South Africa , was very influential on the early Glam Rock stuff , too . "Neanderthal Man" by Hotlegs is also regarded as one of the early proto - Glam toons. There ought to be an international Glam compat some point , as countries you'd never associate with that sound , had at least a couple of songs that fit the bill. 

just picked up the t.rex unchained box set - 8 cds of demos and rarities... i admit it, im a t.rex tragic... grew up on him and sweet and slade ... Marc Bolan was one of my first heroes... in australia where glam was a big hit but we didnt have many of our own bands picking up on it... maybe because of the pub scene here being more raucous and rock and roll... not a lot of dressing up! wasnt the done thing!  politics etc prob made a difference too...

Haha...that's probably it. He's gonna give Keef Richards a run for the money!

1. Gilligan's Island....Uranus....from their 1980 7". This version was played on CFNY from Toronto many many times and this is the only song that many people know by Uranus.

2. Shake Some Action....live Mar 22/ 1982 from The Embassy Hotel in London Ontario. This was the third night of a 3 night gig and the following songs are all from the same gig.

Yeah, I gotta agree with this post.

If you're looking for cheap options then look at the Guitar Fetish site that The Ungodly 77's pointed out. The GFS pickups they sell are worth looking at.

I will say after fitting a lot of splittable Humbuckers into guitars over the years that none of them have sounded like that true single coil sound.

Take a look at some of the humbucker sized P-90 pickups, you'll get a much brighter sound, same fit as a humbucker. SGs with P-90s are fabulous!

 You might also try changing the values of the pots (but keep the old ones in case you ever want to change it back...).

But 7JDH14 is right, the SG wont sound like the GL, but it might sound pretty nice!

Swapping the pickups will change the tone, but it's not gonna make your SG sound like a Legacy. There's a lot more to the Legacy tone than just the pickups.

Whatever letter I draw, I take all the bands and artists in my collection (from the 50's, 60's & 70's only) that start with that letter and play them in strict alphabetical order one by one until I run out of time.
