Oh ugh, Rudi...

@ Gringo, I know exactly what you mean, and that's why I put this post up. When you are or were in a band with someone, you kinda get lumped in with them in a birds of a feather kind of way. I wanted to clarify that I and the rest of the band do not feel that way. Let's give credit to The Miracle Workers, The Lyres, The Pandoras, The Unclaimed, Thee Fourgiven, The Chesterfield Kings, The Outta place, The Mad Daddy's & especially The Cramps! Hell, even Stiv Bators played a Vox Phantom & covered Sonics songs before Rudi did!

Well thanks. Becaue I was part of the LA contingent. But to be perfectly honest, we got a major label deal despite Rudi. Jordan & I negotiated that deal, which of course he fucked up by alienating the whole band with his huge ego to the point where we walked away from the deal right in the middle of recording our second lp.

I have never heard a Fuzztones song. That's all I got.

This is just so typical Rudi on so many levels. He fails to understand the importance of so many other bands from the 80's wave of garage greatness that played in Europe in the '80s.  His band was just one of them. The Fuzztones and Rudi in particular have ruined any kind of a legacy he might of had these days because of big-headedness like this. But this is certainly not news to many of us here. Bad news travels fast indeed.

My Fave bands that dress up or used to back when they were gigging: Los Straitjackets, Thee Headcoats, Man or Astro Man, Nero and the Gladiators, Kraftwerk, Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Monks, The Ramones (best t-shirts and jeans act), The Spotnicks, Devo, Sounds Incorporated, The Wombles, Bay City Rollers!!

i just got an eko ghost, fantastic guitar with a nice trem setup and blade humbuckers , half the price of a real phantom, but still made by the company that made phantoms in the sixtees.

looks fantasic plays well, decent hardware, capable of a multitude of tones, quite pleased with it as it happens.

might benifit from a single coil in the bridge but thats just me.

Have you looked at www.phantomguitars.com?  More reasonable than the actual Vox guitars.  I've never heard one, but you might check out youtube.  Also keep an eye on ebay.  There's currently a teardrop shape guitar for $299.

Hey I love 60's vox guitars and ,well there out of my price range so ,are there any cheap copies of the teardrop or phantom (I'd be more specific and pick one ,but it depends on my mood and who I've been listening to), also is there a difference in tone between the two (also whammy bars are preferable but not esential so bear that in mind in your responses.

wow ,that is actually a great tale of the powerr of rock and roll.

 As child my only escape was the radio. I was told as a preteen that RR would give me a one way ticket to hell.Then after listening to magic carpet ride, I had goosebumps on my arms and thinking anything that makes me feel this good cant be wrong.

for the amout of members here this forum is kind of dead, so just talk about the elements of the 50s/60s sound and why do you love it so much.

I love R&R ,rockablilly ,blues ,garage ,psych etc because as a guitarist i love the tones and techniques of the guitarists.
