ha, this happened to me... flyered so much. had sick flyers too, photoshop/illustrator, design guy here. But its different for my city (philadelphia), living here for almost 6 years now, very few people care about garage/punk or for that matter the music the dj plays. all about who promotes it and whos there and whether or not they are going to get their picture taken and show up on some dumb Facebook page... so lame...

Baaaaah I want to! It's a 10 hour drive for me and that's about 5 hours too much. I saw Acid Baby Jesus once and they were great. Los Vigilantes are coming here in March and I hope to catch them then. Awesome line up for sure.

Crud, I just remembered this:

The King Sound Quartet (Mick Collins, Tim Kerr, Alex Cuervo & Stephanie Paige Friedman) did a great cover of Sun Ra's "Space Is the Place" on The Get-Down Imperative LP.

Most of the best examples of garage-y jazz would probably come from B-flicks, mostly 60s spy movies like Fantastic Argoman, Mission Stardust, Diabolik, and the like. Another good example would be in Teenage Tupelo, the song "One More Hit" during D'lana's dream sequence. Aside from stuff like that, I can't really think of any actual bands that try to make that kind of music. Methinks there's a void to fill.

sure, as a full-blown genre the term is a bit of a stretch (aren't they all, really?), but here's what I'm thinking about:
