    • cool... Somebody once mentioned a band called the Nomads with Damned members in it to me and I wasn't sure for about that one. Did they do a full album or just a single?

Don't know if the Del Monas were mentioned. And maybe doesn't really count, but the Damned as Naz Nomad & the Nightmares.

    • So many great bands during the 80’s/90’s.  The Mighty Caesars, the Cynics, and Gruesomes stand out for me.

    • The Sonics are great and influential, but they don't really apply to this discussion thread relevant to "Key Garage Bands of the 80s/90s".

    • From everything I ever heard from any 80s garage band the Chesterfield Kings gotta be the best that put out the most solid albums. Its impressive to me that the CFKings could nail the sound of the best 60s bands as well as they did. Check out the Steppes Harps and Hammers LP. Of course theres quite a few cool bands, but I think a long list would just add to the confusion. Don't overlook the Gruesomes.

    • Ahah ! Call me lucky Preacher, boy !

...Or pity me for wasting most of my life searching, watching and digging for great BUT cheap records !

And yes : The Invictas rule !!!

      Phillip Jaggar said:

That's awesome that you got that one for so cheap! I just got The Invictas I'm Alright/Stuff I can't put it down, it pretty much stays on my player or close by.

The one (almost) fitting the Garage category I'm thinking of right now is :

      "The Hump" by The Invictas

I'd been lucky enough to pick this one for less than 5 $ and this KILLER is a long time favorite of mine !!!

The ones I wouldn't even dream of would be right now :

"Can't tame me" by The Benders

      "Lorna" by Adrian Lloyd

"Bad little woman" by The Wheel-a-Ways

      and a few thousands more...

    • 1484s are awesome.  i've had two.  unfortunately amp techs in town are clueless and i couldn't get them correctly service.  so i traded them in.  i now use a early 60s bandmaster head with the 2 x 12 silvertone cab.  not the same at all, but great tone and control nonetheless.

      Ryan Thomas LeGere said:

I prefer my Silvertone 1484. The amp is from the 1960s and breaks up real nice. I went to Nashville some months back and on the way back I found her in a Cleveland guitar shop. Ever since I got her, my Fender Twin has been all by her lonesome.

    • WASTE !

I hate robots, machines, djs with laptops...

I'm an old fashioned guy. I love vinyls (especially 7"), don't bother counting anything, not even the empty glasses on my side, and like it warm, real and live. In one word : HUMAN !

I don't think you need to count BPMs to keep it wild'n'kickin' ! And I believe that's the only thing Rock'n'Roll DJs need to be ! WILD'N'KICKIN' !!!

    • Joey said  : "Comments are one of those little rewards we like to get out of podcasting...", "I hate to admit it, but if I don't get it immediately, I start to think that my show sucks!"

Yep, that's exactly how I feel too !

So please, ladies and gentlemen from all over the Hideout, make your comments fall like heavy rain on the podcasters' blogs to keep them happy, healthy and growing !!!

( Ok, I also have to admit that I don't leave as many comments as I wish...blame it on my own lazyness, lack of time or some kind of "what I could say" state of mind...)

Oh, and get ready to drown next episode of the SOUTH BAY PORK podcast, if it ever materialize someday of course, under a warm and giant wave of comments !

    • June 8, 2011 7:25 PM CDT
    • Well, Mike, it helps if we do get feedback, but honestly, listeners aren't obligated to give us any. Period. Hell, as long as people actually listen to the podcasts, that's good enough. And we know Hideout members are checking out the shows, we just may not know if they liked them or not. I guess no news is good news, but I guess comments are one of those little rewards we like to get out of podcasting, so we know we're rocking you guys...
