The Gories @ Bowery Ballroom 2010 They might be old but this band is as advertised
Benefit for Roger @ CbGB's 1989 (too many bands to mention)
Honorable Mention: Anytime I saw 7 Seconds (even during the U2 years) or the Rollins Band or The Woggles (another bunch of old guys who still rock hard
----
Stooges 2008 was good but only Iggy and Mike Watt seemed into it
What a downer, very sad. Such a voice, such a personality, so much expression. RIP Poly
Very sad, I loved X-Ray Spex.
Stink buzz. Rest in Peace Poly.
Aw, damn. That sucks.
Another one of the good guys gone. Poly was a human being. I can pay her no higher compliment. RIP
Possibly one of the most influential women in my life. She'll still have an impact on every teen girl that heres "Oh Bondage" for the first time. <3
R.I.P.
Sad stuff. 53 is awfully young.
I remember thinking how appropriate it was that the vid for "Oh Bondage" is featured in the Punk Rock section of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I was so happy to see it there. Deservedly so, freaking love it.
On the cusp of a tour and a new solo disc out, this sucks. RIP woman! http://www.nme.com/news/x-ray-spex/56316
I'm shocked. I'd read that Poly had cancer, but had no idea she was so ill. One of my all-time punk icons. It's just not right.
She was one of my absolute favorites! She will be missed!
Favourite chord? G6. Don't know why, I just like the sound of it. I've never used it in a song and probably never will.
A is good...A minor makes it a bit more haunting, though. Bar chords in the shape of E or B are always fun after the 5th or 6th Jack -n- Coke.
my darn shit
The Hummingbirds (a really obscure band hailing from my hometown, Helmond)) are pretty blues punk. They're in my music player. As far as I know they released only one, vinyl-only album. The 1st Death Letters album (also dutch) has its punk blues moments, such as this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4za6PNbVSZ8
Not wimpy guitars, but a response to the wimpiness of "Get Back" ... Ike and Tina OWN that song with a really kick-ass version to eat all versions.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipoPPyIIf9A
In the Garage vein, I always liked the Tamron's "Wild Man" but was annoyed by the sheer lack of cojones the whole song has after the "Twilight Zone" opener... the guitar just doesn't cut it.......
I am a proud owner of a lot of CLE stuff, including the amazing Cleveland Confidential comp, which is my favorite of all.
Agitated (Electric Eels) is up there near the top, but "Boy Can I Dance Good" (Pagans) is a mighty slab of mightiness.
Having seen Mirrors and the Pagans, Pere Ubu (later version), Human Switchboard, and Death of Samantha, I thought the Pagans brought the house down, but Pere Ubu just blew me away, even if it was not entirely the "original" band.
To do both:)

Now I am. Was the point of this thread to familiarise us with this song or did you want to delve deeper?

From what little I could find, they were a garage band from France who recorded and released this song in 1966.
