Of course, skimming their list, I see absolutely NONE of my "favorite bands" listed, so obviously it's a pretty arbitray list.

I agree with you on the "Lie" album, John, as I've always thought it was weak, and more of musical curioso than anything else. I know it's been relegated as a "classic" in the genre of "outsider folk", but I fail to see its "brilliance". I do honestly believe that a Rollins-produced Manson album would have been devoured by a rabid Black Flag fan base regardless of the content and musical style. Having it on SST alone would have guaranteed it a success (not in sales for Manson, as he can't collect any royalties from his music), as its strength of them being one of the vanguards of indie music back in the '80s.

NEVER heard about that... Surely , HENRY COULD HAVE SURMISED IT WOULD HAVE GONE THE WAY IT DID.  It's the kind of project that would have been supressed , with threats , or worse.

Henry saw his own best friend , murdered. I'm not casting aspersions at him , but , I believe that would have made him able to feel some of what The Manson Family's victims' families still feel , today.

Even Roman Polanski evokes some sympathy , regardless of what he did , later. Plus , unlike Manson , he's a great Artist . Nevergot it with "LIE'' , SORRY , I KNOW SOME PEOPLE THINK IT'S GREAT.

If I got past the fact that it was Manson , I'd still say it was OK , BUT NOTHING of substantial in my humble opinion. Hitler was a lousy painter, and some people believe his lack of success as an Artist led to the rise of The Third Reich. Come on. Really? Winston Churchill was a WORSE painter , and , he was on OUR side. Getting dissed by the Beach Boys , after spending a Million Dollars of Dennis  Wilson's money, is hardly grounds for instigating murder (It's widely believed Manson only killed one or two people with his own hand. The same is believed to be true about Hitler.).

But , Henry had his reasons for trying to make this project a reality , It's not my place to criticize.

It's a strange realm , Rock'n'Roll and mass murder. Bobby Beausoliel , himself , did brief sojourns as a pickup Bassist with Love , The (other) Grass Roots , and The Weeds (Lollipop Shoppe) , which he claimed made Manson jealous. The Kinks briefly met and visited John Wayne Gacy in his home , several years before his crimes are believed to have begun. Gacy was promoting their concert in Chicago. Lux Interior was furious when some correspondence with Gacy , written in confidence , ended up being transcribed in a book. "If you can't trust a Serial Killer" , said Lux , "Who CAN you trust? ".

I guess Deniz was just old enough , he could have seen Dick Wagner and The Frost. Wagner , of course, is a highly respected Guitarist , but , not many people seem to hold the Frost in such high regard , today. I heve one of their records. It's OK.

Spectreman may have been called something else in Japan......

IN The US , we got some of your shows not many - LikE Ultraman , Kamen Rider (Masked Rider in The US.), Space Giants (Maybe another name in Japan?), Spectreman , that's about it. I had a friend who'd lived in Okinawa , he told me about Meterman , Kikada , and others , when I was about 11. I'd seen some of their pictures in Famous Monsters magazine , already , but , I never saw any of these shows on TV. It depended on where in America , you lived . Local stations would show some of these programs. None of them were seen all over America at the same time...

I asw this film, and it was pretty cool documentary!!  It was fun, and to me, a couple Fifi's comments were pretty funy!  Highly recommended!!

Dead Boy , Udo Taro Dao Man is the English , phonetic spelling of Ultraman Dao (OR Daeo?). I'm not saying this spelling is correct. That's just how I've heard it from other people. BUT , I WAS TOLD , IN THE 70'S , THAT THE THREE KEY Ultramen were Ultraman , Ultraman Dao , AND ULTRAMAN TARO. 

I never saw Ultraman , Kamen Rider , Spectreman , etc. on TV in the 70'S OR 80's. i ONLY KNEW ABOUT THEM FROM A FRIEND WHO LIVED in Okinawa ,and another who lived in Thailand , I think.....

Spectreman , I saw , briefly ,, in the early 80's. But , that was it.

Looked 'em up- cool stuff!  And talk about an accurate band name.

Chris , I just saw a review of a UK Alice Cooper gig , maybe from a couple of years ago , where Alice brought Arthur out as a super - special guest. Alice would'nt let just anyone on his stage. 

I'm sure Arthur and Lord Sutch resented Alice's later success after they'd shared stages with him , but , I get the feeling they were all cordial , if not the best of friends.

Johnny Cash said the mark of a man's success is getting his picture on a 7-11 Slurpee cup !!

I've seen very favorable reviews of Alice's recent shows , which  does my heart good. He's still such a master showman , with a great band , and cool "Deep Cuts" in abundance. But , I have'nt seen him in about 10 years, because he stopped gigging in Chicago proper , as , apparently , his real following is in the suburbs. places you need wheels to get to.  Some of these "Fans" think Alice represents their blatantly racist views , just because he's a Christian and a Right Wing  Republican , somewhat akin to Ted , today , BUT , ALICE IS'NT RUBBNG AMERICA'S NOSES IN IT.

Besides , do you think he's going to turn Black , Native American or Mexican kids away from his youth center in Phoenix ? ALICE HAS GOT A WHOLE LOTTA HEART, he's done more to help people than these suburban rednecks , out looking for a scapegoat.....

I have NEVER heard anyone say , "I met Alice Cooper. Boy , what an asshole !". I met him twice , and he was SO gcool. He learned from the REAL GENTLEMEN , LIKE HIS GOOD FRIEND , VINCENT PRICE.

I have met a few "FANS" who were major assholes. One guy told me "Alice is a great WHITE man". Why not say , he's a great MAN?!
