After 25 years of enjoing Garagepunk & goin' to Gigs, I realized, that (at least here in Europe) the Garagepunk-Band-Scene is very mono-coloured & pale ...
and again: no - I don't believe in race (read 1 & 2 again, if you don't dig it).
The Garagepunk-Band-Scene is basically pale-skinned ... why is that?
Is this a Garagepunk-Phenomena, or is it just my unknowledgeful blindness?

I'm gonna list the bands that come to my mind, being of many colours & nations (and I'm not listing souly 70ies bands like "Sly&the Family Stone" or punkish 80ies Bands like the "Bad Brains", but really the Garagepunk-shit) ...

I'd be thankful to all of you, to list others
& show that the Garagepunk you listen to is not "for-white-kids-only"

I went to a Garage Shock a few years back, I don't remember which number. It was at Emo's in Austin TX and it was a great time. The Von Zippers, Gasoline, The Immortal Lee County Killers (v1), The Cherry Valance, Fatal Flying Guillotines, that band that Mark Arm was/is in, think it's called The Monkeywrench...lots of other bands as well. It was a great time. All put on by Estrus Records (are they out of business now?)

OK, I found more videos by "Garage Shock" and I think that is actually the name of the band, so, sorry. Guess that's not the Drags after all.

Think I'll go start a band called Gonerfest now.

I can't tell if this is the Drags or someone covering them (and the video's description is pretty unclear on this, too). Says it's from Garage Shock 2008... and hell, I didn't even know there was a Garage Shock in 2008. Or is "Garage Shock" the name of the band? Very confusing! I saw the Drags twice back in the '90s. Once in Austin and again at TrebleFest '96 in Denver, and they were insane. Much more energetic than what you see in the video above.

Hello Garagepunkers.  I've been looking around for some live footage of the Drags and the Horrors (not the UK band, I mean the guys on In The Red.)  If anyone could provide me some links I would appreciate it very much.

I use a Fender Bassman TV Duo Ten amp with a Fender Jaguar Bass (red).

Check out Soundblox classic distortion, it recreates most of the fuzz boxes mentioned. You can go to their website a watch videos of all their products. They make 4 types of foot pedals for distortion, the classic, pro classic, multiwave and pro multiwave. These are digital pedals, I know some people have a problem with that, if you do, Big Muff or Rat pedals are a good place to start.

I'm using a clone of a roland bee baa fuzz. it's a goodin.

Tam White - legendary singer / founder of Edinburgh, Scotland's 1960s R&beatsters THE BOSTON DEXTERS and THE BUZZ has died yesterday of a suspected heart attack. He would've been 68 next month. Tam was a phenomenal singer, and in the garage punk world his voice will surely always resonate due to leaving behind the audacious and terrifying 1966 Joe Meek-produced freakbeat-punker 'You're Holding Me Down' recorded as by THE BUZZ, and written by the 'Dexters / Buzz guitarist Johnny Turnbull...Tam also made his mark with a couple of earlier garage/R&B stompers, especially the rarefied stomp of 'Nothing's Gonna Change Me' waxed up for the the Contemporary label circa 1964. The 'Dexters were whisked off to London, where they would record a couple of 45s for Columbia, before a split happened, two leaving and two staying with THE BUZZ being the result. Once the beat boom died Tam stayed in London, and would go on to carve out a singing career on the Middle Earth (including the great psych-etched 'Future Thoughts' b/w 'Lewis Carroll' 45) and Decca labels that took him well into the 70s. He then briefly had his own Scottish TV show...before the blues came howling back into his heart, and he pursued that, and his jazz leanings right up until his death. RIP Tam
