I would love to be able to find dirt cheap flights for Burgerama in March. And I did find dirt cheap flights to Orlando for Florida is Dying earlier in March but I would have to miss too much work during a new-hire probationary period.

OK, can we get a list of all the garage/punk fests worthy of discussion on this site listed here in this topic? I'd actually like to try and get out to see one or two of them. I've been in exile for far too long, so please, post what's happening when and where, and maybe I can make arrangements to attend (and hopefully, you can, too!).
Gracias!

Radio What Wave Playlist January 23/2014
1. Legend Killers....Man You Gotta Go....from a late 80's demo I found hidden on the end of a cassette.
2. The Squids...People Food...demo from this Hamilton duo. They are playing with The Mogs at Doors Pub on Saturday night.
3. Noble Savages...Fire In the World...demo from this Hamilton combo who just happen to be playing with The Mogs on Saturday night.
4. The Mogs....Hate....from their about to be released CD, El Mogamundo. The CD is on that What Wave label, so you know it's gotta be cool. The Mogs have their CD release party at Doors Pub in Hamilton on Saturday night.
5. The Mogs...Run Like Hell...as above.
6. The Mogs...Swamp Love...as above.
7. The Mogs...Bored...as above.
8. The Mogs...Thunder Lightning....as above.
9. catl....Gotta Thing For You....from their Soon This Will All Be Gone LP. catl are opening for Blackie and The Rodeo Kings at Aeolian Hall on Sunday night.
10. catl....Get Outta My Car....as above.
11. catl ....Workin' Man's Soul....from the With The Lord For Cowards You Will Find No Place record.
12.Blackie and The Rodeo Kings...Stoned...from the BARK CD. They will be headlining at Aeolian Hall on sunday night.
13. Blackie and The Rodeo Kings...Something On My Mind...from the Let's Frolic Again CD. Teenage Head cover, but you already knew that.
14. Blackie and The Rodeo Kings...49 Tons....from the Kings Of Love CD. I just love the lyrics in this one as it creates so much tension and you can almost feel the world coming down on you.
There was supposed to be a hockey game starting at this time. Our News Director wasn't told about the change to 7:30 and he kept asking me to play for a few more minutes as he was sure the hockey game was supposed to be starting. Then there was a big argument in the background as some piece of equipment wasn't working and it was going to screw up the game broadcast. As always, mass confusion makes for a better radio show....hahahaha
15. Junkhouse...Praying For The Rain....from a promo CD that came in a box of beer, hence the cheesy intro to this one. Tom Wilson, who is in Blackie and The Rodeo Kings was vocalist/guitarist for this combo.
16. Junkhouse...Hello Mystery...from a 1992 zine called Cool Soundzine, that came out of Hamilton. As did almost all of the bands on tonite's show.
17. Junkhouse...Jet Trash....from the Fuzz CD. There's some killer guitar sonics on this release and believe it or not, this combo got lots of play on the local yokel FM stations in sleepy London Ontario....and they would pack Call The Office regularly and singer Tom Wilson would yell out 'What Wave' as he spotted us in the crowd and the crowd wouldn't have a clue what he was talking about....hahaha...
18. Florida Razors...Let's Go...from the Beat Music LP. Hamilton based rock'n'roll band that had Tom Wilson as vocalist and guitarist.
19. Florida Razors...New York City....as above.
20. Radio 4....I Don't Wanna Go To New York City....local combo from the early 80's and it's on Slippery's Club Hits, the cassette that comes with What Wave 24, available locally and at Star Records in Oshawa.
21. The Only Ones....Another Girl, Another Planet.....Peel demo from Apr 1978....hear the difference between this version and the released version? This one is shorter, no keyboards and slightly more abrasive guitars.
22. The Hippies...Can Teens....from Slippery's Club Hits and had to cut this off as the hockey game was about to start.
Thanx to everyone for listening, especially those that listen each and every week!! Thanx for all the phone calls, emails, facebook messages and Heys!!

Radio What Wave Playlist Jan 16 2014
1. Tony Low...Winter Of Black Ice...from the Time Across The Page CD. Tony was bassist in the NYC based garagepop combo The Cheepskates
2. Thee Hypnotics....Half Man Half Boy....from the Come Down Heavy CD from 1990. Jim Jones (of Jim Jones Revue) was the vocalist in this Stooge worshipping combo.
3. Dustbin Flowers...Start Out With Nothing....demo from this current London combo
4. Light Bulb Alley...Eye....demo for an upcoming release on Ricochet Sound. Montreal based garage combo who play out fairly often
5. Freddie Fingers Lee....I Really Wanna Boogie...from a 7" EP on the Finnish Goofin' Records label. UK based rock'n'roll pianist who passed away earlier this week.
6. Fireball Grant...All Write Now...from a recent demo. One man band we had live on Radio WW on Oct 31st of this year
7. Dave Campbell....My Way...from the Finding The Real CD. London based artist who recorded this CD by himself in his home studio.
Right around this time, Rupert Orton, guitarist for The Jim Jones Revue, called in to talk about the big show that was happening at Call The Office, here in London. The band was in transit from Chicago, fighting weather on the highway. Then Jim Jones came on to talk a bit....Thanx to The Jim Jones Revue for making the time to talk on Radio WW!
8. Jim Jones Revue....High Horse...from the Burning Your House Down LP.
9. Jim Jones Revue...Foghorn....as above
10. Jim Jones Revue...Big Len...as above. Just giving you a taste of the action that was about to happen that evening at Call The Office...Jim Jones tore the roof off Call The Office as anyone who was there can atest to!
11. Jim Jones Revue...Never Let You Go....from The Savage Heart CD
12. Jim Jones Revue...Catastrophe...as above.
13. The Mogs...Swamp Love....from their about to be released CD, on What Wave Records!!! Hamilton based trio who will be playing at Doors Pub in Hamilton Sat Jan 25th
About this time, the Radio WW studios were invaded by Dead City Soul Review (Dave, Jaime and Ryan) who came in prior to their big opening slot at Call The Office, for The Jim Jones Review.
14. Dead City Soul Review....Burnin'...demo
15. The Hook Up (previous name of DCSR)....Skin and Bones....live recording at Grooves Records, Sept 8, 2012. This was the last time the band played London and the Jim Jones Revue show was the first time playing London under the new name.
16. The Hook Up...Church Belles....as above
Big Thanx to The Jim Jones Revue for taking the time to talk to us here at Radio WW on their treacherous wintery drive from Chicago to London. And Big Thanx to Dead City Soul Review for coming onair prior to their opening slot on the show!
Thanx to everyone for listening, especially those that listen each and every week!! Thanx for all the phone calls, emails, facebook messages and Heys!!
Next week we've got an abbreviated show, as Western Mustangs have a 7PM hockey game being aired on CHRW.

MANY'S THE TIME I WAS ALMOST KILLED , MYSELF , BY SUVs AND MONSTER TRUCKS WHOSE OWNERS GO BLIND WHEN YOU PUT A WINDSHIELD IN FRONT OF THEM.......BUT WE PEDESTRIANS , AND PEOPLE LIKE JACKSON , WORKING IN THE STREET , NOT STANDING OR WALKING IN MOVING TRAFFIC , LIKE IDIOTS WE SEE DAILY , who'll live to be 100 , WELL , WE HAVE NO RIGHTS. IT'S VERY SAD.

Has this band ever had a proper interview/history published anywhere? I've become kind of obsessed with the song and the band itself as of late, and have turned up nothing but brief liners on "Pebbles Vol. 6" and a photo on the old G45 Central forum.
Pretty wild! Can't wait.
Could this be their big break? (i'm only half kidding.)
All the albums I've seen posted so far are great! Many of them my absolute favourites. Anyone mentioned Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables yet? 1980 so it just makes the cut. Love that album. Personally I think this 'first era' started a bit earlier than '76 though... Can we count Kick Out The Jams as early punk?
That was one of those shows where his best friend's band blew the headliner off the stage.
Very sad , about Grimshaw. His use of color and imagery was comparable to , yet far removed from , San Francisco's better - known poster artists of the day. He was able to take the same approach , without becoming archaic , into the future ( The cover art for Iggy Pop's "Instinct" would be one of his better - known later pieces.). I'd say his influence has been felt more in Detroit's own Mark Arminski than Kozik or Coop , but , I think it reached a lot of Artists from many different fields......
This is sad news. From the Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20140113/OBITUARIES/301130096/Detroit-rock-poster-artist-Grimshaw-dies-67?odyssey=mod%7Cnewswell%7Ctext%7CFRONTPAGE%7Cp
Share your favourite Grimshaw images on this thread. Here's one he did for a Cream gig at the Grande Ballroom.
