Kopper, you can't expect folk to slaughter the sacred cow of "Punk Rock started in '77". Them kind of folk don't understand the underlying concept of the term "Punk Rock"; they understand fashion. That person is comfortable with accepting a common (popular) concept of "Punk", and they ain't gonna let you tear down the temple, brother. It's the same thing with Psychobilly. Hasil Adkins is flat-out Psychobilly (I'd also argue that The Haze is Punk Rock), but the believers must accept that The Meteors (P. Paul Fenech) birthed the genre, and therefore the previous (undeniable) claim is anathema and worth going to blows over.

YES! IS PUNK! NUFF SAID!!!!
Ok, a bit more: It's a rollercoaster, I have no problem with acknowledging it - it's pretty timeless.

With that much angst and alienation crammed into a 2.5 minute raw and aggressive guitar driven rock ‘n roll assault - hell yeah it's punk.

Funny, because I had discussion yesterday, after I played this song for a friend of mine. It's absolutely raunchy, snotty and the lyrics back it up completely, I just don't understand how you could not accept it. The sound is timeless. Really this song could of happened in 70's, 80's, 90's , the best part is, it came long before.
...I love the way he says social end product at around 1:15 , totally wait for it. yessss.

I like to refer music "experts" to this track when they argue that punk didn't exist until the 1970s. But recently I had one guy who flat-out refused to accept it as an example of punk. So what do YOU think? Vote here!

Hey gang!
I'm in the market fer a good vocal microphone fer playin' out (& possibly if it's sweet a bit o' recordin' duty too)...any suggestions that really get it, in that garagepunk way (& plz spare me the "get a shitty one" replies)
Otherwise it's probably gonna be just a plain jane SM-58 mic (hopefully used to boot!)

haha...I've done that...dreamed a whole song. Woke up thinking its f*ing great then I sat down and played it and it was just a generic country tune with rambling lyrics and it kinda sucked...sounded way better in my sleep! Hidden_Punk said:
umm... sometimes i have really crazy dreams and i write about them... actually one time i woke up and the whole song was already in my head words melody and the guitar part.... it was kinda scary... too bad it was about medieval dragons and stuff hahahahahahaha
but yeh originality is really important with me, im trying to stop listen to so much Nirvana at the moment actually... i find myself writing stuff that would sound good for cobain not me... i think wats best is to write stuff when ur not listening to anything overwhelmingly good

I used to be afraid to say anything...not wanting to piss of the sound person or sound whiny during a set...now I just ask for what needs to be done, cuz it's more fun to perform that way. Turn down guitars in monitor, turn up vocals...etc...As long as your cool to the engineer they are usually cool to you.
*every once and a while though I've got the pissed off jerk who is filling in for someone or hung-over and doesn't want to be there...I just think...FUCK OFF man you get to sit around and listen to live music for a living.
