Very, very sad news!
I once drove from Lawrence, KS to Omaha, NE to see them. Then a year later, they played in Lawrence on the night of my birthday. Both times they put on an amazing show.
The Cramps have also turned all of us on to some of the most rockin' music ever, things we may not have even heard of if it weren't for them.
What else can be said? RIP Lux, thinking of Ivy.
I've got to be honest here...
The only other passing at this point that could rattle my cage as much would be Billy B. Childish - forbid it!
Rock & Roll died yesterday.
I'm sad!
che tristezza!
RIP Lux
My fave band...my fave frontman...the two best shows I ever saw were the Toronto Cramps shows right before Smell of Female came out and right after, with the Date with Elvis tour holding a close third place.
Not just a frontman or a band, but a whole way of life, in a way....
thats fuckin' bad!
Stay sick, turn purple;
great big kiss to Ivy
BAD SaD Horrible news! RIP Lux Interior.
Terrible news, at least he was rocking until the end.
I have a hard time getting upset about people I don't know passing away, but this one is a real downer. There will never be another band like the Cramps, instantly recognizable, they owned any song they covered. Condolences to Ivy.
OHHH! Come on! What times are these?!? First the Bo and now Lux... that's terrible news! We where just alking about the CRAMPS lately and how big they are to us in our little cave. How great they are, their style, the music, the humor... man this is all hard to get. ...Thinking of Ivy. "Come on little momma let's tear this damn place up!"
i loved the cramps, saw them play three times they were the greatest.
i bought a guitar because of the cramps, and learned how to play like that, never bothered to learn anything else, no need really.
Gah! This is shit. He was one cool ghoul.
Will be sadly missed. The shows I saw in Melbourne in the late 80s I will forever remember!
R.I.P! Sad.
so sad!Goo Goo Muck is one of the coolest songs ever!
I would hazard to say that The Cramps were Garage Punk ground zero, and Lux will be missed.
Great video, I spy Theee Bat in the audience as well.
I changed the video's privacy setting. Hopefully it will work now.
I do believe I've been to the post-club thingy too. Best sushi I've ever had.
Video Unavailable. Boo. STATTO is great, I love the atmosphere. Here is a short video of my band at STATTO last year.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7MeFRUj6Yw&feature=channel_page Not really a song though, just the end of the set. Every time I have played at STATTO (or just been to see a band) almost everyone in the club goes to the izakaya by the station afterwards until 4am when the trains start running again.
Don't know if this link will work, but I'll try anyhow. October 6th 2006:
Hey, that was cool! I actually got to see The Vivian Boys - at Club Statto. One year before this vid was posted.
I love them, they only have one EP so far, you should track it down. I've filmed them quite a bit, I should post up some other videos some time.
Nao Nao (drums) is standing in as Atomic Suplexes Bass player this April when we play in Tokyo.
