Regarding Canadian Punk of that era,

It seems like most of the best before 1980 was EP's and Singles, save for Teenage Head, and the Forgotten Rebels.
If we're gonna go before '76 though, Simply Saucer- Cyborgs Revisted is the best Proto punk from Canada.

Thank you.  It seems like it MIGHT have been legally reissued , recently , tho' I doubt it. I asked Don Craine if he thought the two F.U.2 records would be re- released , and he said , it's doubtful. In true exploitation fashion , they were paid a flat fee to record the albums , and did 'nt own the rights. Of course , a few songs turned up on Sect releases.

I’ve never seen What About Me! Love that song though. He did it with his Chinese Dragons band right? I know he re-recorded another version of it too for his “hop around” album in 2000.

Joey Ramone made a little appearance in the Canadian movie “hard core logo” in 1996. Also, Dee Dee was in the AWFUL ON PURPOSE movie “Bikini Bandits” . He played the Pope. Haha.

Tyler , Now , THAT one I've never heard of. Johnny was a great fan of Sci-Fi , but, I got the feeling , after "Rock'n'Roll High School" , he'd given up on acting or appearing in movies , at all......I'm sure this "Stranded " would have been seen by even fewer people than the "Car 54" movie , at the time.

D'yer ever see "Mosquito" ? It's a movie about , yep, giant mosquitos descending upon a camping community. It stars Gunnar Hansen and Ron Asheton , with a cameo by Margaret Dollrod. The only other thing about it I can recommend is that the animation/SFX for the giant mosquitos is actually pretty good.

The only other movie appearance I can think of , by one of The Ramones , was Dee Dee in "What About Me"(With Johnny Thunders , Jerry Nolan , Judy Carne and Jeanette Neapolitano - is that her name?- from Concrete Blonde , also the director. Excepting the latter , they all have pretty small parts.).

Dee Dee's song "What About Me " does'nt appear in the film , just like his song "Love Kills" was deep - sixed for an unrelated , inferior song by the same name , by Joe Strummer , in "Sid and Nancy".

Perhaps I should look into becoming a premium member is the new year. haha.

Sorry if this comes up twice. The Cramps were great fans of Bubblegum , too , when much of their audience would have been too old to remember it....

The first song they ever recorded , and , apparently , figured out at all , was "Quick Joey Small" by The Kasenetz- Katz Singing Orchestral Circus".

Lux Interior once said that he liked the early Talking Heads "When they sounded more like The 1910 Fruitgum Co.".

I agree. This is my favourite Dirtbombs album ever. Top 10 of the year for sure.

Someone posted this note on a blog after finding it inside a used copy of Rocket To Russia.

It originally appears to be simply a funny letter that went along with a birthday gift.

But a few things I notice:
 It makes two mentions of "Superteem" in the letter....Darin Raffellis label in the mid 90's that also put out the first Donnas album and early 7'' singles.

At the bottom, it's signed "Allison R, July 26th, 1995". Could it be a birthday gift from Darin Raffelli to Donna A on her 16th birthday?

PRETTY FUCKING COOL! Although Donna A has some explaining to do!

After persuading my parents to buy me a drumset as a present for my 13th b-day (a very difficult task to undertake, btw) i wanted to have a band of course and so my boyfriend, a good friend of mine and i, started to meet in my garage to make some music.. I can´t recall much about the names each of us proposed, i can just remember that one of my suggestions was to call us The Stillborn or Born Dead or something like this...  (which pretty good reflected my gaiety at that time) ;D  Anyway, making some covers did work pretty well first but than in the attempt to create some songs we were NEVER AGREED!! So i started to call ourself "The LITIGIOUS"!! and well....no need to say that this band didn´t last long! :D

Other band names I came up with included:

Urban Idiots (Good name for a festival, methinks)

Jesus Lenin

Ultimate Weapon

I'm making a lotof mistakes because I'm trying to wrap this up and go downstairs before a tornado arrives.....

tHE very EARLUY hEAVY mETAL , or Hard Rock , evolved out of teh kater Garage stuff , I believe. When it became all E cHORDS AND NO SENSE OF ROOTS IN THE 80'S , i DUNNO. Sme Garage bands in teh Us  made a natural progression to HARD rOCK OR hEAVY pSYCH IN THE LATE 60'S - EARLY 70'S. oBVIOUSLY BANDS LIKE THE SONICS , SWAMP RATS , NOBODY'S CHILDREN , ETC. WERE HEAVIER THAN METAL COULD DREAM OF BEING.

Rumor had it that Bowie was going to follow up "Pin- Ups" with a collection of "Nuggets" covers from The US. It's possible.

I heard a later interview where he said "There were these great bands in America , that just did'nt GIVE a damn. Bands like The Seeds and The 13th Floor Elevators , and....THE JEFFERSON HANDKERCHIEF !!!!". HA HA. i WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN ROBERT PLANT IS SUCH A FAN OF THE WAILERS , ELEVATORS , MOBY GRAPE , LOVE , BLUE CHEER ,etc. Just because I don't like his music , does'nt mean I don't respect his taste.
