Really enjoyed listening to Volume 1, had to laugh about the Jukebox Zeros number I was sure they were singing "City of brotherly love".

Hey Gringo Starr, I really enjoyed the Jackets recently at Mascotte in Zurich cool band :)

I know I'm tooting my own horn here but check out The Jackets (who will be included on Best of the Hideout Vol. 4) featuring Jack Torera ( a girl!!) on lead vocals and guitar -

OK, in case you're not aware, I created a new private group here for these comps. The reason I did this was I couldn't figure out a way to make the previous page private, so that only Hideout members could access it. When I started seeing links posted to it on blogs outside of the Hideout, I realized something needed to be done. So I make a new private group for GRGPNK Records, and it IS private, meaning only Hideout members can access it, but, to do so, you need to request membership. No big deal. Just click here and click the link to request access and I'll approve it shortly. Thanks.

Hey, I found out today that some music blogs are already posting direct links to the Hideout Comps page. I wish there was a way to password-protect that page or make it only viewable to Hideout members. Unfortunately, the only thing I can do is make the tab (menu) option hidden for non-members. People can still access the page if they're not members. So today someone notified me that a link to the page had been posted publicly on someone's blog. I've since emailed them asking them to remove the post, but I'd appreciate it if the rest of you could be on the lookout for similar infractions. I imagine it's only a matter of time before someone puts the entire comp up on Soulseek or RapidShare and it spreads like wildfire. I know there's only so much you can do to keep stuff like this from happening, and that's one reason I made it free to begin with, but it doesn't hurt to ask them to take down the direct links.

If you would like to post about the comp on your blog, you're more than welcome to. In fact, I encourage it! But please use this link:

      http://garagepunk.ning.com/page/are-you-a-member

      Thanks!

I can only make an informed guess as to how much time and effort Kopper and all the bands and artists have put into this series based on how much effort I go to putting together YOU GOT GOOD TASTE, but what an effort amazing artwork and a collection of bands that really show how diverse Garage Punk can be. Big slap on the back to you all. Thanks.

PS I too want to hear some GIRL bands or at least GIRL singers, this would stretch the genre even more. C'mon where you all Hidin' ?

My next show is part 2 of girls that rock the garage, any girl bands want to send me some tunes to feature on the show?

You might want to get in touch with Palmyra Delran, she has a page here, and she rocks.

< I kinda wish we had MORE surf bands submitting tracks >

I know that we submitted a surf-y track; would there be enough of them to have a surf volume in the series or would you rather mix them in with the rest as and when?

Just wait 10 years when We Never Learn Vol 2 comes out, Kopper will have a chapter dedicated to him.

Agreed: both LS and Kopper are doing great things for a form of music that is skirted by the mainstream. I am sure there are plenty more purveyors of this stuff out there, too. Everyone should be welcome to the proverbial table, hence the beauty of this GP community.

Regarding this comp: the advantage of working digitally allows us to all communicate and collaborate internationally and create this thing for next to no cost "in the comfort of our own home", and hence allowing it to be shared with the world.

We all had a hand in this, but Kopper really did a great job of organizing it all.

      Cheers!

Just downloaded the Comp. Great work from all concerned.  Am absolutely kicking myself for not getting our shit together sooner to be included on that!

However, not wanting to miss the opportunity of sharing our album  with you guys, please feel free to download from here:

Hope the rest of the series is just as good (the artwork for the future comps looks ace too).

I was thinking the same thing when you first proposed this idea, but I decided just to keep my mouth shut, because I didn't want to look like I was trying to start a fight.

BTW, I think you and LS complement each other in what you do.  You promote the more raw and raunchy stuff (I was surprised at how hard rocking a lot of it is on the compilation), while LS plays the more polished and produced stuff.  I don't think there's anything wrong with either method; it's all just a matter of preference.  Sometimes I like raw and raunchy, other times I like polished and produced, although I have to admit that I do tilt slightly toward the polished and produced.

Looking forward to more compilations.  If you can turn me onto some cute girl bands, you'll be my hero:)

I just joined up here, and I have to say the compilation far exceeds the expectations I had. Now I know better; I can't wait to hear more.

I'm attaching the printable CD insert here for you guys for Vol. 1. This has a song list on the back side, so when you fold it and insert it into one of those slimline jewel cases, you'll have a track listing.

Hey, another thing you could do---print on heavier paper, like card stock, fold it over, trim the right side of the cover, but leave tabs on one side of the top & bottom, fold them in and glue to the other side, and you have a paper sleeve, no jewel case required. Don't forget to landscape!

      G. Wood said:
Yeah man, looks great. Lil' tip--you gotta change to landscape in your printer preferences, or it'll be too small.

Ha! I thought that name looked familiar.

BTW, do yourself a favor and go see Dick Dale the next chance you get. Trust me, it'll rock.

Also, I love how the comp is only $6.99 on Amazon. Talk about "budget rock"!!

So far the only review on Amazon is a positive one, but this comment is a bit strange:

There is a surf song on here but the majority of this comp is pretty rockin.

Like a surf song can't be rockin'? Er, OK... I kinda wish we had MORE surf bands submitting tracks! But, whatever.

Anyone else want to write a review of it?
