Damn! Someone reminded me of that two years ago and I forgot to include it again!! Yes. Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts 1978 I'm sure I will post the full list again on the next page with the above addition. Thank you. The Desperate Twisters said:
Sorry, I'm really allergic to Patti Smith !!!

      But I love insanity !!!

And I still believe that "Crossing the red sea with The Adverts" should be in your (great) list Gring !

@Joanie : "Concrete" by 999 is pretty cool too. Less"punk",if that means something, than the first 2 records but it's probably my favorite LP from 999.

I'm new to this board and didn't read all 14 pages of this topic, but agree with Desperate Twisters about The Adverts, my favorite record of all time probably. I'd go with the Vibrators and maybe 999 (some combo of the first 2 records) to round out the top 3. Or Bloodbrothers. Or the Diodes. I might even stick Generation X in there, I'm sure that's fairly unpopular. The Desperate Twisters said:

oh my ... so many good-ones within that timeframe ... here's some of my favourites: "Pink Flag" (LP) 1977 - by the WIRE "Realities of War" (EP) 1980 - by Discharge "Inside My Brain" (LP) 1980 - by the Angry Samoans and of course, there's plenty more ... a year later (1981) came out some of the greatest stuff of bands like the Minor Threat, Black Flag, ...

Though not a popular choice these days, but I still enjoy Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols as well as the first Clash album (actually I like both UK and US versions) and the first 3 Ramones albums. Road To Ruin is OK but not really one of my favorites.

naturally the pistols never mind the bollocks is the leader of the pack. they solidified the entire movement. this is an iconic album. Andy Butler said:
yeah! the first Ramones started it all really......the ultimate garage band album...and first punk album.

I wanted to mention Sex Pistols Never Mind The Bollocks too originally....maybe seems a bit too obvious...but really that was a classic..without them where would punk be.

I found that comp last year at a record store. It's fantastic. Classic punk tunes from the late 70's. Solid choice. sleazy said:
I once had a punk collection album sent to me by an Italian friend simply called Punk Collection Vol I (I think) and it featured trax like Fall Out by early Police and other bands like The Damned, The Boys, early Patti Smithetc. ..........it had a beautiful picture of a loo on the cover....don;t remember much else about it thou.

They sure did ! I used to live 'round the corner from where they did the photos for the album cover. At the time it was an abandoned old house...I hear that today it's now a yuppie restaurant, how sad ! Cheers, Wig Andy Butler said:

I probably posted in this discussion before! Anyway...

      1. First 3 Ramones albums.
      2. Young Loud & Snotty - Dead Boys
      3. Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables - Dead Kennedys
      4. Minor Threat - Minor Threat

I saw the Ramones and Dead Boys many times at CBGBs and around NYC in mid and late 70s, amazing shows! I saw Minor Threat once, that was also excellent. Never saw the DKs.

I agree with The Clash and Ramones. All their albums of this era are great - I even cannot select which one of them is better.

But if to add the band no one mentioned here before (or I did not notice), I would pick Cock Sparrer's "Shock Troops". Although it is a little bit out of 76-80 range, I believe it can be deemed to belong to the same era. I love it as strong as The Clash's albums.
