"Basic Blues Magoos" found at a thrift store; Amazing find!

  • I was out in Greenpoint, waiting for a train to come in, when I stumble into a thrift place to break from the cold. This place just so happened to have a record selection, so I decide to thumb through a bit. 30 minutes after combing through obscure-as-all-fuck Krautrock bullshit and goth-metal-post-punk nonsense, I finally get to some sweet finds, including the Standells' first album, and an EP by a group calling themselves The Prime Movers (though it definitely wasn't Iggy Pop's original band).

"Basic Blues Magoos" was somewhere in the back, and I couldn't be more proud to scream out 'oh fuck yes!' in an empty store. Well, to say the least, I felt the need to write about it over at my other blog here: The Electric Comic Book.

It's not a bunch of singles and throw-aways like their first two albums. It's an album that showcases some real psych/garage muscle and musicianship! If you have the means to find one for yourself, do not hesitate! GRAB IT!
