There is a big arts/music festival in my new neighborhood this weekend. It's spread out over a ton of bars/studios so I don't know if there is a complete list of bands anywhere. Anyone else going? Any suggestions good bands?
Thanks,
-Sam

Hey Steve,
Yeah, that's really helpful. Thanks a bunch.
I've heard good things about the Turf Club, but I hadn't heard of any of the places in Mpls you mentioned. Thanks for all the tips on record stores and food too.
And, yeah, I'll send you a message when I get out there. How bout starting with happy hour at the Turf Club?
Much appreciated. Bill.
Steven Madson said:Hey bill, thanks for thee add. I live in midway/miriam park St. Paul and I think its my favorite neighborhood in the cities, pretty laidback. Here's a list of my favorite haunts and are places I'd recommend checking out. Venues: Turf club in St. Paul is the best rock n' roll venue and a great place for happy hour, in Mpls the Hexagon bar, Triple Rock Social Club, Lees Liquor lounge, and Memory Lanes are the best venues and good places to drink/hangout. Record stores: Hymies vintage records, treehouse records, extreme noise and cheapo records. Good eats in St. Paul; Blue door pub, the Nook, Mickeys diner, Dari-ette drive in, Dig Daddys bbq, Lee and Dees bbb. In Mpls: the Weinery is awesome also Matts bar for juicy lucys, Triple Rock, are my faves, tons of restaurants downtown and in Uptown, the Midtown global market is awesome and has a bunch of restaurants and food stalls, check out east lake street in minneapolis for killer mexican food.
Anyway, hope this is helpful, hit me up when you get here if you want someone to show you around a little. Cheers!

Hey Sam!
Yeah, I have a place to move into in St. Paul for June, with a friend who's been living there a couple years.
Thanks for the link and the good wishes. Maybe I'll run into you out there; feel free to send me a message too.
Thanks again. Bill.

Hey Bill!
I just moved to Minneapolis a couple weeks ago, after living most my life in Seattle. So far I love it! I was just in St Paul last night for : Girls Got Rhythm Festival http://girlsgotrhythmfest.com/ it was pretty rad.
You already got a place in St Paul? Cause if not I might recommend Northeast or Uptown in Minneapolis. In general seems like there is a ton of shit to do in the Twin Cities; and plenty of good record stores and dive bars.
good luck!

Hey. I've been living (mostly) in Western Mass. for the past 10 years, and I'll be moving to St. Paul, MN next month. If anybody from the area has suggestions on cool places for rock shows, dive bars, fun bands, or anything else for that matter, that would be awesome.
Thanks, Bill.
We've played there before. It was booked this time. Thanx though!!!
We're Playing Max Steiners in Long Beach Saturday May 19th
and The Redwood Bar in Los Angeles on May 20th
Come join in the festivities!!!
The have a great little label expo every year too which my label Big Bullet Records attended. We gave out 100 copies of this sampler we made. Anyone interested can check it out for free here: http://bigbulletrecords.bandcamp.com/album/macrock-sampler-2012
MACRoCk is really a good thing and I highly recommend for bands to apply. The application is free every year.
must be a nice scene going on in harrisonburg. James Badfellows who I really wanted to see Friday night is also from there according to what I have read. I need to start paying attention to Harrisonburg from Richmond.
I love MACRoCk! My band The Demon Beat has played the past couple of years and had a great time. If you were at this showcase and are interested, we put out a 7" split w/ Elephant Child via Harrisonburg label Funny / Not Funny Records. You can stream our half of the split for free here: http://thedemonbeat.bandcamp.com/album/f-nf-7-split
did you make it up Ambient? I love seeing punk artists that have been doing it for so long - so polished. Sonny Vincent and the Bad Reactions just know how to kick ass. enjoyed very much.
At Strange Matter in Richmond, VA
929 West Grace Street. Doors at 8pm, show at 9pm
Where is this show at?
I just got verification from Strange Matter that this show is indeed happening and they just forgot posting it on their website. Big miss with Sonny Vincent playing; full lineup -
Sonny Vincent (of The Testors), Southside Stranglers, Eurotics, Death Trips, James & the Badfellows, DJ Cocobuttons @ Strange Matter 8pm. 18+
from one way richmond blogspot
i am so confused right now - anyone out there who can help - Sonny Vicent scheduled to play at Strange Matter, Richmond VA on Friday, May 11th with James Bedfellow's (Dan Electreau just turned me on to them on his latest Flying Saucer Rock-n-Roll podcast). Nothing on Strange Matter site, but several other places list it. Anyone with any insight?
Sorry the pictures are upside down, I don't know why they're doing that. I can send more pictures to anyone who's interested. Also, check out the video I made of her!
Sorry, this is not music related but I found an adorable older German Shepherd mix abandoned at the Silver Lake dog park in LA on Sunday. If you or anyone you know may be interested in adopting her, please get in contact with me!
Below is her bio...
This German Shepherd mix needs a home!
We found an adorable German Shepherd abandoned at the dog park on Sunday afternoon. We asked around and nobody at the park knew who she was so we took her home that night. We’ve had her the past few days but our dog doesn’t do well with other dogs in the house and my boyfriend and I unfortunately don’t have the time and resources to give her the care that she needs. She is so sweet but needs someone who can be with her most of the day as she needs to go out frequently. She also has some trouble going up and down the stairs and needs easy access to the outdoors, so preferably someone with a yard could take her in. She is really adorable and gets along well with people and other dogs. She’s between eight and ten years old and weighed 40lbs when we took her to the vet on Monday. She was really weak when we found her but we’ve been feeding her quite a bit so she’s gaining weight and seems to be feeling a lot better. We also got her groomed so she is nice and clean. She is getting so much better every day, has a great appetite, and loves spending time outside. She is the sweetest dog ever and really deserves a loving home!
She is microchipped but we can't get in touch with the owners. Her name is Loki!
If you're interested, please contact Lindsey at (603) 512-2054 or lindsey.elizabeth@yahoo.com.
